Could somebody with the appropriate access to flyspray remove the option to automatically mark all new bugs in the pacman project as Assigned. The should be left as unconfirmed until one of the devs actually looks at the bug and assigns it an appropriate status. Andrew

Hi! We discussed here that an option to change the install-reason of an installed package would be nice: http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/pacman-dev/2007-September/009271.html So what about a new -D (like database) operation: set of commands to modify localdb (for experts only;-)? We could add a --reason (or --explicit and --dependency) option to this operation. For example: pacman -De xorg. (-D can be combined with Xavier's testdb to rebuild requiredby field etc. etc.) Here we can see some limitation of the current ("getopt") front-end (user should have to do -Qi, -D..., -Qi here): it's powerful for simple -A, -U, -S, -R commands, but an interactive (not necessarily graphical) front-end would be more comfortable for group operations, universal transactions (define operations per package), -D ... Now I have been looking at this commit, and the added feature is indeed interesting. The main problem I had with it is that it does a rather unusual use of alpm_trans_release, which caused a few problems that I tried to fix in a weird way. I think these problems were caused by the fact that there weren't any difference between "interrupt transaction" and "release a transaction which failed" actions from the alpm_trans_release POV. So I decided to add a new function instead, alpm_trans_interrupt, which is called on Ctrl+C, and which only sets trans->state to STATE_INTERRUPTED so that remove_commit and add_commit can exit cleanly at a safe moment. This allowed me to revert my two previous hacks as well. Also ensure we handle SIGINT correctly in all cases- if a transaction is not ongoing, then we can free the transaction and exit quickly. [pacman-dev] pacman 3.0.6 ?

I already didn't like that the last tarball of pacman, 3.0.5, wasn't the current version of pacman 3.0. Indeed, a patch was applied in the last PKGBUILD : http://archlinux.org/pacman/pacman-cumulative.patch Now, with the "current" -> "core" move, the PKGBUILD got even more cluttered, with this : # fixes for core move <8 lines of mv/sed> I think it would be nice to make this final change properly to cvs, and release a new up-to-date 3.0.6 tarball. This would help for getting easily the current 3.0 code, mostly for reference / regression testing purpose (and also cleanup the PKGBUILD). So even if pacman 3.1 was released soon, it would still be nice to do that imo.
