[arch-mirrors] Issues when syncing from 23media.de

Hi there I've just wanted to inform you that we encountered some issues today when syncing from the Tier 1 mirror rsync://mirror.23media.de/archlinux/. Many packages and links were outdated or even broken. Therefore we've switched over to use rsync://ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de/archlinux/, which fixed the problems. Has anyone noticed simliar issues? Hi, i've setup a mirror this week. one sync today synced an incomplete state from a tier1 mirror. is there a tool/script to determine if a/my mirror is in a consistent state? greetings and a calm weekend Dennis

Changed the topic because it's completely different. Distributing clients among mirrors depends on the repository architecture. If it's just a bunch of files it can be done on a file-by-file basis, as is done by several repositories. However when there are relations to be obeyed, such as package dependencies and versions, it cannot because a broken mirror may have only part of what's necessary. In other words, the repository must be consistent. This is the case for most linux distros. Having the package manager on the client choose the mirror is usually better, and it should have a list of known-good mirrors, which seems to be already the case. The list of mirrors could be a package that is always installed and updated. It can come configured with a general priority by country or continent pointing to the bigger and most reliable mirrors. The default can be overriden by the user or other criteria, such as specific software.

Thanks for the reply - so if i disable ipv6 dns entirely (by removing cloudflare or other) will the system eventually stop testing for it? Thank you

Hi, Not sure how or why the system started testing ipv6 on localmsp org arch mirror. I can resolve both, but never intended them to be tested (i get the ipv6 via cloudflare and may not always use them). It should work regardless - so I wonder if we can eithe r figure out why the us based testing host fails / maybe not resolving correctly? Or better yet, just disable ipv6 testing for this domain? Let me know if I can help troubleshoot. Thank you

Hello, The http://repo.sadjad.ac.ir/arch will stop synchronization from 1/30/2016 until 2/6/2016, Because of bandwidth problems the organization is going to face. best regards yaghmaie

This server is being decommissioned. It's replacement will not have the bandwidth to support a mirror. The arch mirror will be dropped as a consequence. Please take it off the mirror list. Matt Pallissard
