Hi! We're developing a frontend for libalpm written in Qt4, which is called Shaman. It's in alpha state for now, but it's proceeding very fast =) So, I want to ask, if someone of you can add a function to alpm.h which returns the version number of libalpm, that's needed because of our own UserAgent.. [pacman-dev] Add delta creation to repo-add.

For the first patch, I added the -n flag to gzip in order to prevent the md5sum problem. The apply-delta script is not as efficient as it could be. There is an extra gunzip+gzip step that could be avoided if we create a delta on the .tar rather than the .tar.gz. Doing so would complicate makepkg a bit, so I stuck with the extra step. For the second patch, I created a second function, create_xdelta_latest, which creates a delta for the latest package with a given package name. I did this because otherwise a delta would be created for every package given on the command line which is annoying for me because I use *.pkg.tar.gz. Problems: * gzip upgrade could produce different md5sums - could have had the problem before if a zlib upgrade did the same thing * all delta files that currently exist will not work (probably not a problem)

Hello, All our translations are already fully up-to-date for 3.1.3 (because no strings changed from 3.1.2). [pacman-dev] Question to translators : do you need the line numbers?

As you probably know, in .po files, each strings also contain its actual location in the source : #: src/pacman/add.c:104 src/pacman/sync.c:533 #, c-format msgid "error: %s\n" msgstr "error: %s\n" I guess this information can be helpful to see the context, but personally I never used it. And if I needed it, I would simple use grep -r "error: %s\n" (which will be probably be less friendly, especially when po editors can use the line information themselves). The downsides of this however, is that for example, when we add one new string at the top of src/pacman/sync.c, then the reference of every other strings from src/pacman/sync.c will also be changed. So when we need to rebuild the .pot / .po files to get the new string, we also get a huger number of line changes. So we get both a commit huge in size, which is not cool, but it's also harder to see what really changed. Have a look at size of the following commit where the pacman .po / .pot files had to be updated because of 7 messages changes: http://projects.archlinux.org/git/?p=pacman.git;a=commitdiff;h=e8d665fbf779… We can easily remove all these line numbers with the --no-location gettext option, but the question is : Is it acceptable?

Here's the shortlog. It would be cool to get the new Simplified Chinese translation out there, as well as a few other small fixes that have trickled in. The biggest change by far in this is the improved frontend i18n output, which has some effect on every language except English.
