Hi everybody, I am about to move the first wave of KDE 4.5 RC3 packages into [testing] without l10n packages. KDE SC 4.5.0 will released next week. /bin/cp: cannot create regular file `/srv/ftp/testing/os/i686/testing.db.tar.gz': Permission denied failed to move repository testing-i686. is this normal? New upstream release with some new features: http://sqlite.org/releaselog/3_7_0.html SQLite Release 3.7.0 On 2010 July 22 (3.7.0) Changes associated with this release include the following: * Added support for write-ahead logging. * Query planner enhancement - automatic transient indices are created when doing so reduces the estimated query time. * Query planner enhancement - the ORDER BY becomes a no-op if the query also contains a GROUP BY clause that forces the correct output order. * Add the SQLITE_DBSTATUS_CACHE_USED verb for sqlite3_db_status(). * The logical database size is now stored in the database header so that bytes can be appended to the end of the database file without corrupting it and so that SQLite will work correctly on systems that lack support for ftruncate(). Hi, Just a simple upstream maintenance release. Please signoff for both architectures. Ronald +++++++++++ upstream changes: dhcpcd-5.2.6 has been released. This is a maintenance release purely to fix issues on the Debian platform: Better NTP handling for their NTP init script. Always daemonise in master mode as interfaces can go up/down a lot during system init which could trigger a timeout. Thanks Roy +++++++++++

Tier1 mirrors don't sync ftpfull. The difference of ftpfull is that it includes other and archive directories. I don't think there is a need for mirrors to sync it. There is no point in syncing archive directory, it is permanently frozen. Since you already have it - you can just exclude it from rsync process. The other directory contains some sources and patches that have no other official place to be taken from. There's not much point in mirroring it if you don't mirror the sources. Besides ftp.archlinux.org both other and sources directories are available at mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/ @devs: do you agree with my points above? @Olivier: I suggest you to pick one of tier1 mirrors as the upstream. If absolutely you want to sync other and sources directories then you can use rsync://mirrors.nl.eu.kernel.org/archlinux/ (as mentioned above: to keep archive - just exclude it from sync) In any case please let me know which upstream you will use so that our db can be updated. -- Roman Kyrylych (Роман Кирилич)

[arch-dev-public] no more untiered mirrors

Today the rsync access on rsync.archlinux.org was disabled for all mirrors that have not moved to 2-tier scheme. There have been way too much time for any mirror to switch to tiered scheme, I wrote a personal email to every admin who has a known email address, but still more than half of all mirrors either sync directly from archlinux.org or from unknown upstream. Those who are not tier2 either don't have a known contact address, or do not respond. So it is completely reasonable to shut down access for such mirrors. pacman-mirrorlist needs to be updated to reflect the change, however I don't know how to better automate this. Possibilities: * mark all untiered mirrors as inactive (this will mess with other "really inactive" mirrors, but those "really inactive" could be removed completely IMO) * change generation of pacman-mirrorlist to skip Untiered db records What do you think, Dan? -- Roman Kyrylych (Роман Кирилич)

I'll be offline on July 2-11. After I come back and read all pending emails (if any) rsync access to rsync.archlinux.org will be blocked for all non-tier1 mirrors, which means that all mirrors that did not move to 2-tier scheme yet will not be able to sync from rsync.archlinux.org. -- Roman Kyrylych (Роман Кирилич)

[arch-dev-public] gcc 4.5 bug - what to do?

Hi guys, Yesterday I had bug report on a segfaulting binary for x86_64 that ships with texlive-bin in testing: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/20199 I have reported the bug upstream: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3031498&group_id=145640&at… and as suspected it turned out to be a bug with gcc 4.5: http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=45008 Now this means I have no means to include a working binary of dvisvgm for x86_64 in texlive-bin until that bug is resolved, since I cannot rely on gcc 4.4.x and no patch is available... What is the procedure you guys follow is such situations? F
