Hi, Following discussions between a few of us on IRC and private emails, we decided to remove the hostname binary from the net-tools package and to replace it by the one from inetutils. Unlike the hostname from coreutils, the inetutils hostname has all the functionnality of the net-tools' one. I've also added scripts which implements the behaviour of the domainname and dnsdomainname symlinks that were in the net-tools package so everything should work as before. If not, let us know. I've also added inetutils to the base group as many apps expect hostname to be installed (I think its also a standard). The net-tools package also had other changes as followed: - update to current upstream cvs - remove hostname (and the symlinks to it, dnsdomain and domainname) as well as manpages related to it - changed license to gpl2 - removed !makeflags from options (seems to work fine without it, except for some extra compile time warnings). Hello, TeXLive 2011 has been officially released. Packages in [testing] have been updated to reflect this. * biblatex-biber is not packaged and depends and a whole lot of Perl packages. You can find it on AUR, or some for some developer to package it and its dependencies * eptex format generation fails, I don't understand how to fix it, so if anyone has an idea... Rémy.

Hi all, there was another incident with a CA. See http://blog.mozilla.com/security/2011/08/29/fraudulent-google-com-certifica… for more details. If you like to distrust this issuer you'll find a howto for Firefox at http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/deleting-diginotar-ca-cert For other apps that use our ca-certificates package (by Debian) You can easily disable the root cert by issuing the following commands as root: sed -E 's#^(mozilla/DigiNotar_Root_CA.crt)$#!\1#g' -i /etc/ca-certificates.conf update-ca-certificates This information is just for those who are curious. There is most likely no need to panic for those people; especially if you don't live in Iran. And if you do its probably too late as the issuer was compromised two month ago. And I thought the Comodo incident was already pure night mare... The whole CA structure we base our SSL security on is a mess imho. Blindly shipping a bunch of certificates to our users does not seem to be the best idea any more. Unfortunately there is no real alternative atm. Hi guys, Upstream update of util-linux and removed mountpoint binary from sysvinit as it is now provided by util-linux. Major changes to util-linux: - agetty gets most of the features from mingetty. - dmesg gets lots of new filtering capabilities (try dmesg -l err,warn) - mountpoint moves here from sysvinit We still patch hwclock to move the adjustment file from /etc to /var. I'm not a big fan of this, and will return to the problem for 2.21. Please test and signoff. Cheers, Tom

Hi, It's been over 7 years since the last upstream update and gamin provides nearly all the functions without requiring a daemon and it uses inotify. As for NFS support, gamin monitors local events so it won't affect users having the home on NFS [1]. I think we shouldn't support dead software and replace fam with gamin.
