Random attempt, I don't know all the info, so feel free to add as needed: Udev Minimum Kernel Version The release of udev 145-1 requires a minimum kernel version of 2.6.25 (due to the signalfd function) to work. It is highly recommended that you are running the latest kernel, but if that is not an option, it is suggested to put udev in a NoUpgrade line until your kernel can be upgraded.

So I setup (with the help of Pierre) a torrent tracker on sigurd, located at tracker.archlinux.org Pierre has pointed his tracker DNS to ours, so it should be our single tracker now. It is setup with a whitelist, so an admin needs to add the torrent hash if new additions are necessary. The torrent hash can be sniffed from a torrent file using `transmissioncli -i FILENAME` As of right now it's tracking whatever the archlinux.de tracker had (archboot ISOs mostly) and the official RC1 ISOs. Hi, This is a draft for a little announcement about the KDE 4.3 packaging changes. If nobody complains I'd like to put this online quite soon. -- The new major release of KDE does not only include exciting upstream improvements and new features but also introduce a new set of packages that makes it possible to only install those applications you like. All important changes in short: * split packages; for more Information see http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/KDE_Packages and http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/DeveloperWiki:Splitting_KDE * Qt uses the Gstreamer backend for Phonon by default. Other backends like phonon-xine can be installed optionally. * Meta packages ensure a smooth upgrade and emulate the old monolith packages for those who prefer them. Important hints for upgraders: * Check if your mirror is up to date. * pacman will ask you to replace all kde packages with kde-meta packages. * Don't force an update. 'If pacman complains about conflicts please file a bug report. * You can remove the meta packages and the sub packages you don't need after the update. * If you don't like split packages just keep using the kde-meta packages. Signoff for pacman/makepkg 3.3.0. Notable things: * once this goes in, we can officially start doing split packaging and build()/package() usage in our PKGBUILDs. * this is basically a signoff for libfetch too, and you can remove libdownload from your system. Allan (and others)- I added a carbon copy version of makepkg.conf to SVN. Do we want to establish (1) Arch LDFLAGS or (2) Arch integrity check policy? -Dan

Both gerolde (archlinux.org) and sigurd (aur.archlinux.org) now have the new DB scripts Important changes include support for "any" architecture packages (yay) and split packages. Please report any issues in the bug tracker

Hi all, if you did have the previous non-really-split kdeplasma-addons installed from kde-unstable and testing you need to remove it before updating to KDE 4.3 from extra: pacman -R kdeplasma-addons You can reinstall the group afterwards. Hi! The View SVN Entries link for splitted packages is broken. For example: http://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/any/kde-meta-kdeplasma-addons/ The link on that page points to http://repos.archlinux.org/viewvc.cgi/kde-meta-kdeplasma-addons/repos/extra… but because it is a splitted package the SVN tree can be viewed at http://repos.archlinux.org/viewvc.cgi/kde-meta/ Any ideas how this can be solved? -- Roman Kyrylych (Роман Кирилич)
