Hey guys, Looking for a signoff for libarchive 2.6.0. I had to apply one small patch to fix a problem I found running pactest on the pacman source, so it is fairly well-tested already. On another note- I compiled *without* LZMA support, which is now available as of this release. I would like to eventually compile this in, but it would require us to move the lzma-utils package to core. Any big objections to moving this in so libarchive can be compiled with LZMA support? -Dan

I was planning so many things on mkinitcpio which I didn't do yet, so here is a quickfix for 2.6.28 usage: - Add ext4 detection to filesystem hook - Rename ide-disk to ide-gd_mod in the ide hook - Depend on the new klibc 1.5.14-2 so fstype and kinit can detect ext4 properly.

a new upstream release that adds some additional features. please signoff when everything is still fine. -AndyRTR version 1.21 - Sergey Poznyakoff, 2008-12-27 * New short option -J A shortcut for --lzma. * New option --lzop * New option --no-auto-compress Cancels the effect of previous --auto-compress (-a) option. * New option --no-null Cancels the effect of previous --null option. * Compressed format recognition If tar is unable to determine archive compression format, it falls back to using archive suffix to determine it. * VCS support. Using --exclude-vcs handles also files used internally by Bazaar, Mercurial and Darcs. * Transformation scope flags Name transformation expressions understand additional flags that control type of archive members affected by them. The flags are: - r Apply transformation to regular archive members. - s Apply transformation to symbolic link targets. - h Apply transformation to hard link targets. Corresponding upper-case letters negate the meaning, so that `H' means ``do not apply transformation to hard link targets.'' The scope flags are listed in the third part of an `s' expression, e.g.: tar --transform 's|^|/usr/local/|S' Default is `rsh', which means that transformations are applied to both regular archive members and to the targets of symbolic and hard links. If several transform expressions are used, the default flags can be changed using `flags=' statement before the expressions, e.g.: tar --transform 'flags=S;s|^|/usr/local/|S' * Bugfixes ** The --null option disabled handling of tar options in list files. This is fixed. ** Fixed record size autodetection. Hi, I have made a list of orphaned packages that are flagged out of date (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/User:Allan/Out-of-date_Orphans). There are a few packages that are needed as dependencies for packages with maintainers: bittorrent - archboot (Tobias P) devil - cegui (Douglas) libgda - qof (Douglas), - abiwork-plugins (via libgnomdb; Giovanni) - autopano-sift (via libgnomedb → gtk-sharp; Tobias K) liblo - ardour (Tobias K) taglib - many packages (Tobias P, Giovanni, Tobias K, Andreas, Jan, Jurgen, Ronald, Kevin) There is also a bunch of bluez related packages that Geoffrey should be taking over. Four packages have less that 1% usage but were kept in the last clean-up due to being i18n related. Should we be dropping these to the AUR if no-one is maintaining them? We are not helping international users much if these are not maintained. Does any dev use autofs? It has three of the oldest bugs in the bug tracker and is way out of date... Allan

Hi, As suggested in FS#12281, we could add inetutils to the repo to replace, among other things, the netkit-* packages which are no longer maintained upstream and mostly orphaned. Inetutils could potentially replace several packages either entirely or partially. Here is a list of network tool that inetutils can provide and the corresponding packages that it might replace. Point B) From Greg comments in FR, we should keep the current xinetd (best inet implementation) and whois (actively maintained) standalone packages. So we disable inetd and whois. Let me know if you agree/disagree on following Point A & B. Other points of discussion: tftp: inetutils'tftp is to be run via xinetd like netkit-tftp. tftp-hpa uses a rc.d daemon script. I don't know what is best and if it's something we should worry about. In fact, I don't know anything about xinetd so I'll need to read docs to get the daemon setup correctly. Does anyone has experience in xinetd-style daemon script? About the talk{d}: we recently moved netkit-talk to unsupported. Do we build them in inetutils? ftpd: do we add the ftp daemon? We already have several of these (probably better ones) in extra. There won't be any conflict so we could still add it. uucpd: I don't know what it does. Do we add it? Basically, this thread is to discuss if we add inetutils in the repo (probably in core as netkit-tenet is in core) and what tools the inetutils package should contain, i.e. what package should be replaced by it. BTW, I don't have any experience with several of these clients/servers, so help in creating the deamon file (especially the xinetd ones) or testing might be necessary.
