[aur-general] TU resignation

Hello friends, I've been thinking about this for a while, and finally decide to step down. These days I don't have much time to maintain the packages publicly released on AUR due to my personal issue and as a result, I should resign from this position because I don't serve the AUR users who are using my packages as before. It's a great experience to work with you all, keep working guys! Thanks for bringing this great distro to the community. [aur-general] Inactivity for CVS problem

Hello to all, I have a problem with CVS: I can't do anything. Every actions result in a timeout. I tried many repos, but nothing: I'm blocked. I think it is a connection issue, because for two or tree days it worked. I don't know how proceed now, feel free to adjust / update my packages, I will remain available ( other internet functionality are OK ). -- JJDaNiMoTh - ArchLinux Trusted User

[aur-general] [website] accessing maintainer information

Hi, Although the information of a package maintainer can be retrieved from a package page, that information cannot be retrieved from the searching package page. For instance, the maintainer info is accessible from here (by clicking his/her name): http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=7111 whereas clicking on his/her name from here doesn't work: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?K=uwolfer&SeB=m Clicking on the name in the searching package page actually filters the search result with that maintainer. But I'm wondering if it would not be more consistent to display the maintainer information instead. Regards, Cyril

I believe this thread concerns the community repo as well, so please have a look: http://archlinux.org/pipermail/arch-dev-public/2008-May/006243.html However there is something to figure out about how the community repo is built : packages need to be built with makepkg >= 3.1.2, and added to the database with repo-add >= 3.1.2 In the meantime, the following two steps can still be done: * reevaluate if the flag is still needed. I would guess if it hasn't needed a 'force' since before the last ISO, then we should be fine. * convert the old force=y syntax to new options=('force') syntax Note that the community database itself doesn't contain a single FORCE flag, which means all the force flag below are not used at all. [aur-general] AUR RPC search results custom fields

Hi, I just subscribed to the AUR mailing list. I developed tupac, a script that does fast aur searches. I got really glad when i found that there is an RPC for AUR, but all my happiness vanished when i saw that the search results show no information, and that i have to add another query for each result if i want to show aditional information to the search results. From my house, this adds a 550 ms query to each result. I gave a try to arson to proove it. Adding the possibility of specifying the fields you want to show in the search results would reduce rpc query time and would also reduce server load. Getting custom fields would be 1 connection vs N+1 (N=number results, 1 the search) connections that you have to do now for a pacman-like search. And in what time regards, as an example, for 30 results now I need (30+1)*550ms = around 17 seconds. I also see that this would be more intense work for the database, so it would be reasonable to add a result limit to the search, if you use custom fields, in order to reduce subqueries. And, about usability, imagine that http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php took 13 seconds to load. What do you think, did I sound convincing enough? :P

[aur-general] problems with x86_64 build machine?

Are there more people having problems building packages on the build machine? I'm getting an "error: failed to init transaction (unable to lock database)" error, or is this related only to my account? So for the time being I'm not able to update the x86_64 versions of my packages :( If somebody has a bit time left feel free to update them, otherwise I'll do it when it is working again (the packages currently in need are: sakura, ristretto, wxmaxima, and youtube-dl). I am trying to upload the package perl-ppi to AUR, but I get the error message "You are not allowed to overwrite the perl-ppi package" even though this package does not exist on AUR. Thanks for help Firmicus

[aur-general] can't "overwrite" coxpcall

Hi, I'm trying to upload a new package to the AUR, "coxpcall", but it says I can't overwrite it. I have a feeling it's because I uploaded copas first, a package that depends on coxpcall. Then AUR registered that package somehow, and doesn't let me upload it. I'm only speculating here. Anders
