[arch-general] New bluez package

Upstream bluez has gone to version 4.45 now, and one new thing is that it no longer starts as a system service, but auto-starts when a bluetooth device is present. This is done via udev rules that are installed by the package. [arch-general] mirrors

Anyone know what's up with the mirrors? Looks like nearly all the US mirrors (RIT, SUU, EasyNews, UMFlint, GaTech, VT - even Schlunix) are running 1-2 days old. Only mirror that seems to have new packages is Unixheads, and it's *dog slow*. Is there some Arch-wide problem going on? TIA, DR

Hi, it looks like the sources used by Arch for MPlayer are not just a SVN snapshot of the main trunk. Listmates, On an i586 box with kde4 from testing, I am now unable to login. kdm starts to login, crashes and restarts. [arch-general] Perplexing libjpeg-related packaging issue

Hi guys. Yesterday I rebuild mldonkey since it depended on libjpeg. On x86_64 there are no problems, and everything works as expected; this is not the case for i686, where there's a strange problem: [root@plafone ~]# ldd /usr/bin/mldonkey | grep libjpeg libjpeg.so.7 => /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.7 (0xb7f1c000) libjpeg.so.62 => not found The package was created with makechrootpkg in a clean chroot. How is it even possible to link with two different versions of the same library? And where did it get the old version, since it didn't exist in the chroot? I'm trying to rebuild a sane version now, but if anybody has a clue I'd be happy to hear it :P Corrado

[arch-general] 32bit chroot in 64bit guest

I've got some packages to upgrade for both arches and I was wondering if it's possible to run a non-native chroot and stop resorting to virtual machines. Given that i686 binaries should be runnable on an x86_64 guest, i just used mkarchroot with an i686-configured pacman.conf, but I get a sudo error when it tries to run makepkg from makechrootpkg. makechrootpkg launches sudo only once, at line 202, and this is the full command: sudo -u nobody makepkg $MAKEPKG_ARGS || touch BUILD_FAILED Now, why require installing sudo in the chroot (standard procedure) if the 'sudo' and 'makepkg' commangs used are *outside* the chroot? Shouldn't they be run through 'mkarchroot -r' to allow cross compilation? Or am I missing something (as usual)? bardo

Hi, since 3-4 days i notice on mirrorchecking that for community repos the status file for indicate the last sync of the mirror switch temporary on some mirrors between actual(synced) and a out-of-sync period from ~16 days. It seems that only mirrors are affected which snyc more than once a day and when theys sync from rsync.archlinux.org. So somewhat "switches" the lastsync file (which is automatically generated by cron each hour on gerolde for all repos). I don't know how or if aur.archlinux.org and gerolde get synced, but please: could one admin look if on aur.al.org is in the community repos a file named lastsync? If you, please remove this so it don't overwrite the generated one on gerolde. If you look currently on: http://users.archlinux.de/~gerbra/mirrorcheck.html you could see several mirror with comminity outdated. And maybe on the next check they are all synced again and overnext check they are bad once more. Short (Sorry for my bad english <g>): If you found a lastsync file on aur.al.org in the repos - please remove it... Gerhard "gerbra"
