[aur-general] Account Type On AUR

Can everyone who is a developer and a Trusted User set their account types on the AUR to Trusted User rather than developer. At this point there are only two differences between a TU and a dev on the AUR: your title and the ability to make other people developers. Right now the stats are some arbitrary number on the front page and I have to rely on a wiki page for an accurate number of TUs which is ridiculous. I also have to allow developers to vote on the TU interface which also seems stupid to me even if we should trust developers. At this point the only reason a TU/dev should be a developer on the AUR is because they don't know why or they're in an epenis measuring contest with each other so please change your account and fix the stats (or give me an incredible reason for being a dev). [aur-general] Packages with libpcap dependency need a rebuild

Soon (today or tomorrow), libpcap 1.0.0 will move to core. All community packages depending on libpcap will need a rebuild (iftop is among them, no idea if there are more). The rebuilds probably won't be necessary for each version anymore, as the libpcap.so has no a sane SONAME (.so.1) instead of having the whole version (including the minor) as SONAME.

[aur-general] Please remove aif-blockdevicerefactor-git package from AUR

Hi, I own the package aif-blockdevicerefactor-git It was named after a specific branch, but since the branch has been merged into master and then deleted this package doesn't, and will never work anymore. Can it be deleted? Sorry for bothering you with this, when I created it I didn't realize users couldn't delete their own packages :-) Dieter

[aur-general] Official discussion period - Rules governing packages entering [community]

This starts the official discussion period for the addition of rules governing the addition of packages to [community]. As this is essentially a bylaw change, we will use that voting procedure: 5 days discussion, 7 days voting, quorum of 75% required. [proposal] * Only "popular" packages may enter the repo, as defined by 1% usage from pkgstats or 10 votes on the AUR. * Automatic exceptions to this rule are: - i18n packages - accessibility packages - drivers - dependencies of packages who satisfy the definition of popular, including makedeps and optdeps - packages that are part of a collection and are intended to be distributed together, provided a part of this collection satisfies the definition of popular * Any additions not covered by the above criteria must first be proposed on the aur-general mailing list, explaining the reason for the exemption (e.g. renamed package, new package). The agreement of three other TUs is required for the package to be accepted into [community]. Proposed additions from TUs with large numbers of "non-popular" packages are more likely to be rejected. * TUs are strongly encouraged to move packages they currently maintain from [community] if they have low usage. No enforcement will be made, although resigning TUs packages may be filtered before adoption can occur. [end proposal] Allan

First of all, nobody really wrote /against/ this proposal and nobody said there's no need for a standard, so I suppose everyone's ok with it. If this is not the case, just speak up, otherwise I'll wait for a week from the last comment and then proceed to wikify it. A new version of ecomorph is out, and the GIT is out of date right now. I have created a new ecomorph package for these, and the others (which are now out of date, broken, and were already orphaned) need to be deleted. Thanks, Smartboy
