[aur-general] Failure to boot after update yesterday evening (CET)

Hi, I performed a large-ish update yesterday, gnome 3.8, linux kernel and a few other bits and bobs, which left my computer in an unbootable state. I still haven't any more details on why since I've left my other boot option at work. All I see is that the kernel boots and systemd is started but never progresses to a login prompt or GDM. I also don't get any of the virtual terminals. Maybe this is enough for someone to point me in a direction for solving it. If it isn't ill get back with more details this evening when I have some other mean of booting the system. /M

Hi, There is number of smartgit packages [1] and two of them have been orphaned: smartgit and smartgit-ea. The current maintainer alyst confirmed in the comments: [2] "Please upgrade to smartgithg-ea AUR package, smartgit-ea would not be maintained." and [3] "The upstream was rebranded into SmartGit/Hg. The new AUR package is https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/smartgithg/" So, I think the orphaned smartgit and smartgit-ea should be removed. I'd like to suggest repo_manager [1] be removed. => Not updated since it was first uploaded. => Upstream seems to have completely abandoned the project (404's and no mention anywhere on rest of site). => Upstream source is gone and no alternative sources. Salve, citizens! I think we're ready to push GNOME 3.8 into [testing], so our TUs can start doing the necessary [community] updates. What to do (from memory): - Move contents of [gnome-unstable] to [testing] - Get [community-testing] updates going. This affects IIRC packages using libgee and js, since they received major upgrades. If possible, upgrade to the current versions, else move depends to the legacy libgee06 and js185. - Stabilize in [testing]. Move to [extra]. - Drop gnome-games, got split. Drop gcalctool, got renamed. - Look into dropping as many legacy GNOME packages from [extra] as we can, such as metacity, gnome-panel, gnome-screensaver, gnome-games-extra-data, gnome-applets, gnome-themes-extra. Maybe more, if we want to purge old stuff and demote it to [community] or the AUR. I probably forgot something. Reminders? Objections?

[aur-general] [Merge/Deletion Request] Ardour packages

Ardour development switched from svn to git, so ardour3-svn [1] isn't needed anymore and should be deleted/merged with ardour-git [2]. LinuxVST-support is also enabled by default for the package in extra, so ardour3-vst-git [3] can be deleted. Not sure how much sense a binary package makes when Ardour 3 is in the repos, so ardour-bin [4] may probably go too (it's marked out of date for over a month as well anyway). (ardour2 [5] is not developed anymore, and judging by the most recent comment can't be compiled currently, but it might be ok to wait for someone to adopt and update it... unless it is considered obsolete and ripe for deletion by the powers that be) Thanks! [aur-general] Make AUR notifier messages more visible

Hi I found that AUR comment emails are too invisible in my mailbox. The reason is that notifier sends messages to aur-notify(a)archlinux.org and hides my email in "bcc". Thus email clients (e.g. gmail) do not mark those emails with ">" symbol and they lost in miriads of similar emails from maillists. It would be better if these emails were sent "to" user email as it makes such emails more visible.
