the new version is in testing for x86_64, i686 will follow soon. please test it. look for the new features and especially if all fonts and characters are ok for you. The IcedTea6 project provides a harness to build the source code from OpenJDK6 (http://openjdk.java.net) using Free Software build tools. What's New? ----------------- - Static trace support through systemtap. When given the configure option --enable-systemtap IcedTea will build hotspot with the dtrace static markers enabled and install an hotspot tapset that can be used to dynamically trace execution of java applications at runtime. See the tapset/hotspot.stp file for documentation of the various trace points and arguments available. - Allow building of other virtual machines besides the default VM. Additional virtual machines on architectures where hotspot is available are cacao and zero (or shark), and cacao, where zero (or shark) is available. It's not possible to build cacao as the default VM, and zero as additional VM. - Update to latest HotSpot minor build (hs14b10-->hs14b15) from the new HotSpot Express repository. - Updated to OpenJDK b16 build. - VisualVM updated to 1.1.1. - Updated to support CACAO 0.99.4. - Several web browser plugin and javaws support fixes: - Fixed security handling to prevent access denials when there is a site specific exception in the policy file - Allow extentions (chrome) to run Java code with full permissions - Added non-trusted SSL support to WebStart (javaws) - Added proxy support - Other improvements that were breaking specific sites (tag parser fix, nested jar support, etc.) - Added JVM Console (used by http://chrispederick.com/work/web-developer/) - Removed gcjwebplugin support. - LCMS security fixes. - Many build improvements. - Many gervill, java2d, nio2, pulse java, zero/shark, jtreg fixes. - Experimental out-of-the-box cross-compilation support (not yet finished) - Other bug fixes.

Doing so would introduce eventlog (108K), glib2 (10336K), pcre (2164K), gcc-libs (9068K), libcap (185K). Eventlog, gcc-libs and libcap aren't a problem at all, they're small and in case of gcc-libs already required on the system. For glib2, it's "huge", but given the fact that many people have this thing installed for other purposes anyways, I don't see the problem here. People with minimal systems could get rid of /usr/include anyways, which is where the most space is taken in case of glib2.

I added "uucp" and "locate" in the gshadow file, from the "filesystem" package. This fixes FS#10910 and FS#12661. The changes were made in the file, only. I did not created a new package with the changes. -- Hugo

Hi all, k3b-i18n in [extra] is incompatible with k3b-1.65, so it should be removed until a k3b1.65 compatible version will be released (if there will be). btw, I do not think is a good idea to keep an alpha version of k3b in [extra], IMHO we should downgrade the version in extra and move this one on [testing]. Hi The license rebuild for core/extra is almost done. Only a few problematic packages remains. I'll post the list here with potential solutions. Read along and comment/discuss as apropriate. ccaudio: - doesn't build. no package depends on it. Remove? codecs: emovix-codecs: - There is no license information in the tarball or on mplayer's site. Other distros use the following licenses: mandriva & PCLinuxOS : Commercial. I haven't looked what this license is about. NetBSD: === There is no license to copy granted for these codecs, and the copyright ownership is unclear. === Gentoo use their 'as-is' license : === This is a generic place holder for a class of licenses that boil down to do no guarantees and all you get is what you have. The language is usually similar to: Permission to use, copy, modify, and distribute this software and its documentation for any purpose and without fee is hereby granted, provided that the above copyright notice appears in all copies and that both the copyright notice and this permission notice appear in supporting documentation, and that the same name not be used in advertising or publicity pertaining to distribution of the software without specific, written prior permission. We make no representations about the suitability this software for any purpose. It is provided "as is" without express or implied warranty. Remove? termcap-compat: - need to rebuild ssh2 (community) without it: FS#14570. Then remove? unionfs-utils: - Stock kernel no longer has unionfs. Move to unsupported? user-mode-linux: - Orphaned, out-of-date, 3% usage. Move to unsupported? xmame-sdl: - FS#11927 - Dead project. We have sdlmame in community which is actively maintained upstream. Remove? xsmbrowser: - Doesn't work: 'Application initialization failed: version conflict for package "Tcl": have 8.5.6, need exactly 8.5'. Move to unsupported? License rebuilds currently in testing. I'll move them in a few days (even if ipw2100-fw doesn't have the required signoffs): ipw2100-fw rbldnsd ypbind-mt ypserv BTW, a couple of vim plugins didn't had any license information (and also ttmkfdir2 part of xorg-font-utils).
