pambase 20190105.1-1 caused bad failure for email. The error I saw immediately was from postfix failing to authenticate users via saslauthd which in turn blames pam. Downgrading back to 20171006-1 restores email funtioning ok. [arch-general] [Xfce] Notification area tooltips gone

Hi all, For some months now, the icons in my notification area haven't been showing me tooltips. I don't quite know when this started, but I do remember that this was working before. I get tooltips for all my launchers in the panel, but neither the Power Manager system tray icon nor the NetworkManager applet show any tooltips on mouseover. FWIW, ~/.gtkrc-2.0 has 'gtk-enable-tooltips=1'. Is there a setting somewhere that has changed, or is this a bug I should file with XFCE? Best, Murari

[arch-general] Request to remove an invalid header from the python-pillow package

Hi all, I have reported in https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/57492 (nearly a year ago) that python-pillow installs an invalid header in /usr/include/python3.7m/raqm.h, which 1) upstream clearly did not intend to be packaged, and 2) prevents the building of Python extensions modules that actually want to use libraqm (because /usr/include/python3.7m/raqm.h shadows /usr/include/raqm.h). Unfortunately, the report has seen no activity since last April, even though I proposed a (simple) fix for it (add `rm "$pkgdir/usr/include/python$_py3basever/raqm.h"` to package_python-pillow()). Is there anything I can do to get it fixed? Thanks, Antony

[arch-general] How to grant Apache httpd permission to serve files from my home directory?

Hello, how can I grant Apache httpd permissions to present files out of my home directory? Especially, I don't want to only serve files from my home folder, and I don't want to give it full root access. To be more specific, I want to serve a small tutorial project in Python via uWSGI. I guess, first httpd needs the rights to delegate, then uWSGI needs rights to access the scripts. Both are currently running as http:http. This is not being thought as a permanent solution, just only for "quick & dirty" deployment, as always thinking about copying etc. during learning phase is rather inconvenient. Kind regards Peter

Hello, I've tried to get Python working with Apache httpd and mod_proxy_uwsgi, but access to it results in an Error 503. In httpd.conf I activated the module. In vhosts configuration, I made the following related entries: DocumentRoot "/srv/http/my.host.name/" <Directory "/srv/http/"> Options -Indexes </Directory> <Location "/bud/"> ProxyPass uwsgi://127.0.0.1:3031/ </Location> In location /srv/http/my.host.name/bud/ there's a script named buddy.py: def application(env, start_response): start_response('200 OK', [('Content-Type','text/html')]) return [b"Hello World"] The URL I'm using is: http://my.host.name/bud/buddy In /etc/uwsgi/vassals there's a configuration "example.ini": [uwsgi] chdir = /srv/http/my.host.name/bud module = buddy plugins = python I've started uwsgi in emperor mode, starting "emperor.uwsgi.service".|| What am I doing wrong? [arch-general] Where does /usr/bin/uwsgi come from?

Hello all, I've got sth. strange: I wanted to install the "uwsgi" package, but the binray is already installed. "pacman -Qo uwsgi" results in "No package owns /usr/bin/uwsgi" (German: "Kein Paket besitzt /usr/bin/uwsgi"). So, why is it on my laptop? I'd guess it's probably been installed at some time with apache httpd but has been removed later, but don't know. Anybody knows about such an issue? Kind regards Peter
