[arch-general] BrlTTY Hard Dependancy on eSpeak

Hi, I'm having some issues with installing brltty. The problem is, it depends on espeak but I'm using the espeak-ng from community and it is giving me the unresolvable conflicts problem for that reason. I don't think that brltty actually needs espeak at all, and it could probably be listed as an optional dependancy along with espeak-ng. Thanks, Storm

Hi, I'm uncertain, if I should file a bug report or if it's up to the user. After running xflock4 I can't unlock the screen anymore. I suspect that this is related to the pambase update. I noticed that e.g. cinnamon-screensaver provides a pam.d file, but the package xfce4-session, which provides xflock4 doesn't. $ pacman -Qo /usr/bin/xflock4 /usr/bin/xflock4 is owned by xfce4-session 4.12.1-11 $ pacman -Ql xfce4-session | grep pam.d $ pacman -Ql cinnamon-screensaver | grep pam.d cinnamon-screensaver /etc/pam.d/ cinnamon-screensaver /etc/pam.d/cinnamon-screensaver Should I fix it myself or is a bug report within reason? hello. i am a blind arch user. currently to independently install arch i am using the TalkingArch <https://talkingarch.info> it is simple respin of archiso with speakup and brltty packages included. it wood be nice if official arch live iso comes with accessability support. especialy then Debian, fedora and even gentoo provides such option and it doesn't required much maintenance when implemented. if someone from arch Community interested to implement with my guidance of course. a possible approach : 1 include alsa, brltty and espeakup packages. 2 create a special boot option to boot archiso live session with speech enabled. brltty can be enabled in standard session because it not interfere with workload for sited people. 3 make a11y documentation on arch wiki. if someone is interested. lets discuss. p.s. i hope that I chose the right list. Hello fellow Arch users, I just updated my system and received the new Lutris update (0.5.0-1). After running lutris from the terminal it showed the following error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/lutris", line 31, in <module> from lutris.gui.application import Application File "/usr/lib/python3.7/site-packages/lutris/gui/application.py", line 30, in <module> gi.require_version("GnomeDesktop", "3.0") File "/usr/lib/python3.7/site-packages/gi/__init__.py", line 129, in require_version raise ValueError('Namespace %s not available' % namespace) ValueError: Namespace GnomeDesktop not available I am running KDE Plasma 5.14.90 (kde-unstable) and probably don't have some default gnome dependency. I already tried installing the packages "gnome- python" and "gnome-python-desktop", but there are for GNOME 2 and not for GNOME 3. I hope someone may be able to help. Hello Everyone! I am Aniket Pradhan, a student. Please refer to this <https://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comments/al0v84/participation_of_arch_li…> Reddit thread I had raised earlier and was recommended to ask here. I was wondering if the Arch organization is willing to take part in this year's GSoC and if there are any developers who would like to participate and mentor students through the GSoC program? As discussed by FoxBoron (in the Reddit thread), the mentorship is not reimbursed and will be time-consuming (a bummer). However, we can have some really cool projects related to Arch for the GSoC. Like something related to Pacman, or anything else related to Arch (I don't really know where to draw the line between community-driven tools/software and official Arch software). The GSoC will provide exposure to the students and will also help the organization in the final run. The students will also get to learn more about Arch and how it works. There are other numerous benefits which I am missing. I am really interested in Arch, and really want to contribute to it. [arch-general] Customizing Console Keybindings?

Hello, I was wondering if the it is possible to customize the console keybindings. In particular, I want alt+tab and alt+shift+tab to switch the consoles instead of alt+right and left arrows. Furthermore, is it possible to turn alt+f<n> for switching terminals and force it to use ctrl+alt+f<n>? I had done some digging on this, and I have come to conclude that this is either baked deep in to the system or it might take me rewriting the keymap. Thanks, Hunter

[arch-general] [Xfce] Notification area tooltips gone

Hi all, For some months now, the icons in my notification area haven't been showing me tooltips. I don't quite know when this started, but I do remember that this was working before. I get tooltips for all my launchers in the panel, but neither the Power Manager system tray icon nor the NetworkManager applet show any tooltips on mouseover. FWIW, ~/.gtkrc-2.0 has 'gtk-enable-tooltips=1'. Is there a setting somewhere that has changed, or is this a bug I should file with XFCE? Best, Murari

[arch-general] Request to remove an invalid header from the python-pillow package

Hi all, I have reported in https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/57492 (nearly a year ago) that python-pillow installs an invalid header in /usr/include/python3.7m/raqm.h, which 1) upstream clearly did not intend to be packaged, and 2) prevents the building of Python extensions modules that actually want to use libraqm (because /usr/include/python3.7m/raqm.h shadows /usr/include/raqm.h). Unfortunately, the report has seen no activity since last April, even though I proposed a (simple) fix for it (add `rm "$pkgdir/usr/include/python$_py3basever/raqm.h"` to package_python-pillow()). Is there anything I can do to get it fixed? Thanks, Antony
