Unable to access Arch Wiki

Hello everyone, Since yesterday, I've been having trouble accessing the Arch Wiki from my network. My browser tells me the site is taking too long to respond. I've already tried things like changing DNS and restarting my router (which still gave me the same IP address I had). I know there were recent DDoS attacks against other Arch sites like the AUR. However, I've checked the Wiki status [1] and everything seems normal. I've also tried using tools to change the IP address, and I can access it. I've confirmed there are recent edits, which tells me it's not a global issue. My concern is that they've blocked me—not my username, but my IP address. I tend to be active reading and editing on the Wiki. Could someone confirm whether IP-based blocks are currently in place, and if so, how can I request to be unblocked? Thanks to anyone who can help. Trouble registering with Arch ARM forum

I've been trying to register for the Arch Linux ARM forums off and on for a few weeks. Before the DDOS attacks, I was able to get through the registration form, but never received any confirmation emails (yes, I looked in junk mail). When I tried again this week, figuring I'd try using an address from a more well-known provider, I found the captcha no longer loads, so I can't even get through the form. The JS console reports `ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID` on trying to load `cap.js` from the third-party keycaptcha domain, which seems a likely culprit. Is there anyone here connected with the ARM forum who could look into fixing the captcha or the missing emails? I didn't get any response on IRC, or from the one email address listed on the Arch ARM website (which isn't for the forums, I know, but I figured it was worth a shot), and the main Arch forum admins told me to ask the ARM forum admins, despite the fact that the forum doesn't list any admin contact info if you aren't logged in. cp from internal SSD via USB 3 to external HDD is very slow

Hi, I am copying from an internal SATA SSD via USB 3 to an external SATA WD Blue, a 3.5" CMR HDD. The first part “cp -ai /mnt/winos7/” (see [*1]) took about 70 minutes for 188 GiB, almost all files are quite small. The second part “cp -ai /mnt/winos10/” (see [*1]) should copy about 100 GiB small files + about 740 GiB for a single vbox vdi file. The about 100 GiB small files were copied and about 310 GiB of the vdi file were also already copied, at 03:30, so for about 410 GiB it took about 9 hours. I think this is taking far too long. Does anyone have an idea? FWIW ^Z was an oversight. I meant to press Ctrl+Alt+T to open a terminal tab, and apparently pressed Ctrl+Z (German QWERTY keyboard). Availability of Icecast package for Raspberry Pi ?

I run Arch Linux on a Raspberry Pi 4b with 4Gb and I would like to install "icecast" and possibly "darkice" but "pacman" reports "not found". Is it not available for this platform ?? If so is there an alternative?? Or am I missing something obvious ? Regards, Dave

Forum outage (bbs.archlinux.org) due to cloud node outage

Hello everyone, I just wanted to let you know that the Arch Linux forums which are usually found under https://bbs.archlinux.org are currently not reachable due to a fault of the underlying cloud node. This outage is unrelated to the issue with the DDoS attacks that were happening in the last few days. We'll monitor this issue and hope it is resolved soon! KDE PIM is no longer usable

There seems to be 2 distinct problems: - kontact is looking for knotes libraries while knotes has been discontinued - akonadi is in an inconsistent state. Thank you for having a look into that.

Devs, Don't know if there is an issue, but just tried to reach the AUR nvidia-390xx page to update status that 6.16.0 confirmed no changes required -- and I can't reach the page? I tried the main page too https://aur.archlinux.org and same result. I pinged it and got 66% packet loss. Is there a known or new issue? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

Proposal: Announcing VLC package split on Arch-announce

Hello, The VLC package in [extra] was recently split into multiple subpackages (vlc, vlc-plugin-*, vlc-gui-*, etc.). This change adjusts dependencies, separates plugins, and alters installation paths. It affects not only VLC users but also other packages and third-party scripts that depend on VLC. This change has already caused multiple issues for me and others I know. Because the update may cause missing functionality, playback failures, or broken dependencies, and given its wide impact, I suggest posting an announcement on the Arch-announce mailing list so users are aware of the change before updating and can make necessary adjustments.
