Hello, first of all congrats to Kessia and Paulo and good luck. I also have some questions. On BBS there was a discussion about having the documentation of the TeXlive packages available in some repo. There are some up-upstream authors of CTAN-packages who strongly want the documentation being made available in every distribution. On the other hand Arch politics also say that sdocumentation should be made available. So Firmicus asked me if I want to maintain the docus in community. The packages are arch independent, though. What do you think? Are they too big? What are the plans about having a repo for architecture independent packages? Aonther question: there is a package named sage-mathematics in the AUR. It has been orphaned, so I updated it. The PKGBUILD downloads an about 200 MB tarball, the resulting package has 560 MB and unpacks to more than a gigabyte. Moreover, it comes with its own package manager, and consists of sub-packages, that partially are already included in Arch, i.e. python, maxima, octave... Should this go to community? [aur-general] What's goin on with Asterisk on Arch Linux?

Hi everyone... Today i decided to start creating the [1]OpenR2 package for Arch Linux. OpenR2 is a library that implements the MFC/R2 telephony signaling protocol over E1 lines. Along with the library, branches for Asterisk are provided with MFC/R2 support in chan_zap. Well done, as my first move i decided to check in AUR if someone else had already thought about this package. The package isn't there. Great. So, I decided to take a look at our repos and search for asterisk. [kalib@tuxcaverna ~]$ sudo pacman -Ss asterisk Senha: [kalib@tuxcaverna ~]$ I realized that we don't have asterisk in our "pacman". I can't believe it. Asterisk is such an important package. I saw it on AUR. How can we have the package into our "regular" repos? Only if a TU addopt it? Hello, My name is Imanol Celaya, I'm 19 years old and I'm studying Electrical Engineering in Bilbao, Spain. On the forums and irc you can find me as ornitorrincos. I started on linux on 2003 and first used fedora core, then debian and finally arch since late 2006 testing some more like gentoo, solaris, and openbsd on dual boot. a bit later I got involved in the Spanish arch community translating the docs and one iso installer. I'm also developing pyalpm [http://pyalpm.sourceforge.net] (not the 2005's attempt using ctype, but using distutils) I'm also one of the developers of the bot on #archlinux-es [github.com/ornitorrincos/archinator]. As you can see with some of my packages [http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?SeB=m&K=ornitorrincos] I'm interested in packaging for arch some developer tools(as NetBSD's make and the TenDRA C compiler, svn at the moment as the latest "stable" release is from 1998 but I wouldn't mind try to package it if somebody wants it), of course, I'd be interested in packaging some more C/C++ compilers(which are not gcc, variety is a good thing), I'm also interested in python, EDA software and 3d apps. If possible I also plan to package some GPGPU software. I have both a x86_64 machine and a i686 machine with arch installed. On my free time I like to go out with some friends, see a movie or do 3d modeling. I've been some time wanting to be a TU and angvp told me that when I feel prepared I could ask him to be my sponsor, and as today I feel prepared to apply angvp is my sponsor. Greetings, Imanol

[aur-general] Packages of User Kiyura

Hello, The user kiyura seems to be inactive, I would like to take conkeror-git and fd. I will orphan the rest. The packages are last updated at the beginning of may. I contacted him via mail on 08/08/08 (not kidding) and got no reply. I use conkeror-git a lot, it is a xulrunner based webbrowser almost entirely written in Javascript. Regards Stefan

They are formally well written IMHO. 4l: Dependency to gcc is not needed, it is in base-devel, and you have a mkdir -p which should be a install -d You can consider to replace $startdir/src with $srcdir and $startdir/pkg with $pkgdir in some PKGBUILDS. But that are minor issues. Can you please explain what EDA and GPGPU means? I did a little googling, but the pages I found go far beyond my skills in computer science. Do you have some projects for packaging in mind in that direction? Regards Stefan

[aur-general] amarok2-svn and mysql issue

Hi Alexander, my name is jofko and im package contributtor for kdemod-playground packages. One of these packages is amarok2 svn version. Today amarok2 switch to new mysql embedded database type. Current extra package is compiled without options --with-embedded-server. Adding this option to mysql package will make possible for all user to compile all further versions of amarok2. I already added this option to PKGBUILD file. You can find it in attachment together with patch. Thank you and advance. Jofko

[aur-general] pkgrel updates

Hi TUs, I was looking at the pkg_diff page in order to build some packages for community64 and noticed something I found a bit worrying and after much thought, I decided to bring it up. It could all be entirely legitimate and if so I apologize. A large portion of recent updates (~2/3) are only bumped in the pkgrel, i.e. no pkgver update. While I realize some of these will be legitimate rebuilds, it is a bit of a concern to me given nothing major has moved from the testing repo and I don't recognize the packages from bug reports. I haven't looked at whose packages these are (and at this stage, I honestly don't care), but it seems a reminder about quality control on the packaging front is needed. I don't mean to sound overly grumpy, but this costs users and the mirrors bandwidth as well as giving the few x86_64 using TUs more work. I really don't like writing emails like this. We can all make good packages or else we wouldn't be TUs. So please double check your packages before uploading them. Regards, Allan
