Hi, Working only on my second AUR package, please bear with me. To verify integrity, the author does not provide checksums but only a gpg .asc file. What is the preferred way for me to proceed? The author is active and available so I can ask him to post a sha256 on his website; but I'm trying not to be too demanding, preferring to keep my requests on the subject of the application itself, e.g. features, etc. It's not a big deal but just wanted to check with the community here in case I am missing something. Thanks.

Hello everyone, I am planning to release a PKGBUILD for writer2latex [1], which includes a default shell script called 'w2l'. I am not going to use this exact file, as I want to use the one in the Java Package Guidelines [2]. However, how should I call this shell script? 'writer2latex', as this is the precise package name, or 'w2l', which is what the package proposes, but resulting in a possible file conflict. So, which one should I choose? [aur-general] Moving KDE 4 translations

Hi all, KDE Frameworks 5 applications will install their translations into /usr/share/locale/$LANG the same way KDE 4 applications do. Then they will conflict. See also FS#41684 for more info. To fix this, we moved KDE 4 translations into /usr/share/locale/kde4/$LANG. This has been simple as rebuilding kdelibs and ALL applications using it. We rebuilt every package[1] which depend on kdelibs (directly or not), but someone could be missing. Please report any official package with a broken locale. Hello everybody, Today i was notified by the AUR system that somebody called "arcanis" silently merged the package "python2-vdirsyncer" into "vdirsyncer", leaving other packages with missing dependencies. Vdirsyncer runs under both Python 2 and 3. It can be used as a library, but is more commonly used as a CLI tool. The Python 2 version was required by khal-git, as Khal doesn't work under Python 3. The Python 3 version still resides under the package name "vdirsyncer" and is there for the sake of completeness, and because Python 3 is technically the most up-to-date version of Python. It can be used independently of khal. khal-git: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/khal-git/ vdirsyncer: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/vdirsyncer/ I also couldn't find a mailinglist about this, therefore i assume this is a mistake. Hi, makepkg now seems to build the .pkg.tar.xz archives for pacman to install, naming them as such: masshash-1.0.0-1-any.pkg.tar.xz I have not seen the "any" in the name before. I can see how the 1.0.0 is the version number and the -1 is the release number; fine. Why is there an "any" in the name? What parameter is it referring to and should it even be there? How can I remove this any so the package is called masshash-1.0.0-1.pkg.tar.xz (assuming that is how it should be/is more proper). Just trying to understand the "ins and outs" of making AUR packages. Thanks.

[aur-general] Inactivity starting 4th August

Hey guys! I will be inactive starting Monday 4th August. I will be moving to a different city for a job (yay, for the first time I'm gong to be paid for programming :-)) and I won't have an Internet connection for some time except from the mobile phone. Anyway, from the packaging side most of my packages doesn't require much attention. The only exception may be luxrays/luxrender which often require patching for newer boost and which tends to suffer from compiler bugs a lot. Also, there is one open bugreport for cdrtools (FS#41343), but it seems to be an upstream problem. Lukas

Also, it can be used for packages which uses python or similar; python has to be 32bit or 64bit, apps written in python has not.
