flex 2.5.34-1 is up for i686. I still haven't gotten myself going for x86_64 builds yet, so would appreciate someone doing that. Also a minor version update. Drops the patch that was previously needed, as it appears to have been integrated. Cleaned up the install slightly, put the lex shell script in a separate file. - P

[arch-dev-public] [Request] Adding eric-plugins and dependencies to extra.

Hi all, I would like to add a new package (eric-plugins) in extra that will contain plugins for the eric python IDE. Some of these plugins require python developpement tools: cx_freeze and pylint which I would like to also include in extra as they are currently in unsupported and community. BTW, pylint also depends on python-logilab-astng and python-logilab-common so they'll also need to be moved in extra. Any comments? Let's get a quick poll going here. :) I use ext3 on my two boxes with dir_index turned on for all partitions, and some have noatime in the mount options. /boot is the exception, which is ext2. Finally, I don't have a tmpfs for /tmp on either box, due to the fact that I tend to stick large stuff there and I'd rather not swap on a regular basis. -Dan

Just an addition of two new licenses. Signoff should be super-easy- make sure you have a plentiful supply of licenses in /usr/share/licenses/common/. PSF, Python license- http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/9467 ZPL, Zope Public license- http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/8998 We have a few packages that use these, they may need to be updated to point to these guys. -Dan

[arch-dev-public] current e2fsprogs incompatible with grub

Creating a boot filesystem with the default settings for mke2fs will render grub useless because grub can't read partitions created with it. The issue is that the inode size is 256 by default, which is compatible with kernel 2.6.10 and higher. Older kernels, and also grub won't work with anything else than 128, which is the default according to the manpage (but clearly isn't). We should fix this before making our new installer CD and we should nag upstream about this. During my search for a solution, I found not a single solution, but several forum posts coming from several distributions, all without solution other than "install lilo, grub is broken on my distro".
