[arch-general] cannot generate enough entropy for pacman-key --init

Hey There, I have an Arch Linux box inside Virtualbox on a Mac that I use for development purposes. I connect to this machine via SSH without any visual interface. It's on [testing] and just upgraded to pacman 4.0 and after installation it asked me to run pacman-key --init to generate the necessary keys for my system. I did all of these inside GNU Screen (also tried without it without any luck): $ sudo pacman-key --init gpg: Generating pacman keychain master key... Not enough random bytes available. Please do some other work to give the OS a chance to collect more entropy! (Need 300 more bytes) I pressed random bits with the keyboard but it didn't work so I fired up another window inside screen and did cat /dev/urandom > /dev/null but that also didn't work. So I found this [1] article and tried it again without any luck. So I'm basically stuck here. Can someone please help me? Since pacman is bricked, I can't also install anything. [arch-general] Problems with .install file and pacman 4.0

Hello. I don't have any powers to post on arch-dev-public, so I'm writing here. Since I upgraded to pacman 4.0 (and building tools related to pacman 4.0), some packages which have both an install file and a name like something-git won't build. For example, if I try to build vlc-git, https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=16084, I cannot get it build until I comment install=() line : [fred@fredo-arch vlc-git]$ makepkg ==> ERROR : install file (('vlc-git.install')) doesn't exist But a little ls tells me : [fred@fredo-arch vlc-git]$ ls PKGBUILD vlc-git.install Known bug ? install file line in this package : install=('vlc-git.install') I can see the same for a package I try to maintain, kvm-git : https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=22041 Any ideas ? -- Frederic Bezies fredbezies(a)gmail.com

After upgrading to the new pacman 4.0, the system update following fails due a lot of untrusted signatures (unknown trust error). I'm guessing we need to verify we really trust these signatures. I've found this guide regarding validating gpg keys: http://www.pps.jussieu.fr/~jch/software/pgp-validating.html. I assume this will be a lot similar, except using the pacman-key frontend to do the verification. So let me step through and see if understand correctly: All the developers keys seem to be published here: http://www.archlinux.org/developers/ and http://www.archlinux.org/trustedusers So to trust Andrea Scarpino's key I would get the pgp key from the above webpage (PGP Key: 0xD30DB0AD) and finger it: pacman-key --finger 0xD30DB0AD then compare the finger print with the one thats linked to his profile: http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?op=vindex&fingerprint=on&exact=on&searc… It seems to match, so there is a good chance it's the real deal, so now I can locally sign it: pacman-key --lsign-key 0xD30DB0AD Correct? In examples of the article also marks the key as trusted. Would that be a good idea? We have to do this for each and every Arch developer I guess? Is there a faster way? Sander

I don't have ms-windows machine, but I asked a guy to try the usb device with the proprietary CD that came with it, and it worked out out of the box (what a surprise for these things thought for ms-windows only), so the device is working nice.
