Anyone else's gnome-shell-extension-dock break after the update? I've done some searching and it doesn't look like anyone has run into this issue. Just wondering if anyone would know how to get it back? I've removed it, installed it, enabled it, it just doesn't show, and nothing shows in the .xsession-errors file. [arch-general] no sound coming from speakers after update

Hi, I ran pacman -Syu just now after a gap of almost 3 weeks. After the update I restarted my system and now I can't play audio. Even mpd doesn't start up. alsamixer shows Card: PulseAudio and Chip:PulseAudio. Please help me as I can't do work on my computer with listening to music. :( I have pulseaudio installed just because gdm needs it. Other than that I use alsa.

Hello everyone! I'm having problems installing E4rat from the AUR ( https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?K=e4rat&SeB=x) Installation fails: $ makepkg -s ==> WARNING: Sudo can not be found. Will use su to acquire root privileges. ==> Making package: e4rat 0.2.1-2 (Sun Oct 9 17:34:22 CEST 2011) ==> Checking runtime dependencies... ==> Checking buildtime dependencies... ==> Installing missing dependencies... Password: error: target not found: audit ==> ERROR: 'pacman' failed to install missing dependencies. I performed a search with pacman -Ss, and audit seems not to be in the repos. Has anyone encountered this problem yet? Thanks. Lorenzo

Please help me to understand how bash does its initialization when started as a non-login shell. The manual says it sources ~/.bashrc and that's it. The Arch Wiki says it sources /etc/bash.bashrc and then ~/.bashrc. Sure enough, it does what the Wiki says... It occurred to me to look in the Wiki, after much trouble, the kind of trouble that happens from trusting the manuals. Did I misunderstood the manual or is Arch distributing a patched version? (Somewhat contrary to the Arch way, if I understood it.) TIA Jorge Almeida

Hybrid image file and torrent is provided, which include i686 and x86_64 core repository. Please check md5sum before using it. Hybrid image file is a standard CD-burnable image and also a raw disk image. - Can be burned to CD(RW) media using most CD-burning utilities. - Can be raw-written to a drive using 'dd' or similar utilities. This method is intended for use with USB thumb drives. You don't need to be as daring this time- we've had some 246 commits since RC1. The most relevant changes is signing is about 95% functional at this point- see directions below the links. * pacman -U http://dev.archlinux.org/~dan/pacman-4.0.0rc2-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz * pacman -U http://dev.archlinux.org/~dan/pacman-4.0.0rc2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz Please report any issues you may find with this package, as it is getting very close to being an actual releasable version. These are debug builds with symbols, so getting stack traces and helpful logging should be relatively straight forward if necessary. == How to enable package signature checking == 1. Install above pacman RC package. 2. sudo pacman-key --init 3. `SigLevel = Optional` in pacman.conf is the default- for more info, see man pacman.conf, but this means signatures will be checked *if available*, and there will be no error if they are not. However, due to us not having a web of trust for Arch developer keys, you will need to add this to the [options] section: SigLevel = Optional TrustAll 4. Run -Syu or any other operation that fetches packages from sync databases. When it comes time to check package integrity, you may be prompted to import keys that are not in your keychain. If a signature is available, it will be used instead of sha256sums/md5sums. -Dan
