Hi! First I wanted to ask, if there's a reason, why the package rkhunter was removed from AUR. Second I had to rename the package kernel26fbcondecor to kernel26-fbcondecor due to some nice changes in the PKGBUILD of kernel26, which makes compiling and maintaining other kernel packages a lot easier. [aur-general] Packaging perl modules - best practices for dependancies?

Hi all, I used to use Arch a while ago, and packaged quite a few Perl modules [1]. After switching operating systems, I've come back to Arch - and I need to be a good maintainer of my packages :) I remember when I wrote these how frustrating it was manually writing just about every package for the dependancy tree. Personally, I'm of the stance that you should choose one package manager and stick with it - either all CPAN or fully Pacman/AUR. However, I've seen quite a few packages that do not do this. Instead, they rely on the fact that Build.PL and Makefile.PL are both capable of installing dependancies from CPAN. Like I said, I personally don't like this approach of mixing 2 package managers, it just seems like a recipe for confusing both package managers. Could anyone shed some light on what the *correct* procedure is - and also if there any tools out there that will scrape CPAN to build packages, before I write my own (in Perl, of course ;) Thank you! -- Oliver Charles / aCiD2 [1]: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?SeB=m&K=aCiD2 are my packages if you wish to check them

Hi, I was checking orphan packages that should be revived. I found Pinot [1] and made a new version. Since it is in "community", though, it cannot be adopted. I attach the new version of the package here (tar.gz, because it has Changelog, PKGBUILD and .install) and you can apply it to the CVS version. Hi TUs, I would like to orphan some packages in [community]. So just grab them if you like. I think I'll just remove them if nobody is interested. Hi, I want to give away some packages from [community] that I'm not longer interested to maintain: bygfoot catfish dvdstyler (wxsvg) kazehakase mget pinot (xapian-core, libtextcat, unrtf) qemulator tracker, tracker-gnome-search-tool If you want any of them, just write a short note and I will orphan them. Also I don't have the time to maintain the vmware PKGBUILDs anymore: vmware-workstation, vmware-workstation-modules vmware-player, vmware-player-modules vmware-server, vmware-server-modules, vmware-server-console If no TU wants them, I will orphan them in a few days. [aur-general] Resigning as a TU

Hi all, I have decided it is time for me to resign as a TU. This has been a decision that has been on my mind for a while. I am wanting to focus my efforts on what I see as core parts of Arch (primarily pacman development and what I consider "core" packages). I currently leave any requests for package orphaning and deletion and AUR password change requests to others and I have been relying on others to check TU applicants packaging skills, so I am not doing TU stuff anyway. I will still be around to give my opinion is someone wants it. [aur-general] Proposed PKGBUILD for next llvm build

Hi While fixing the insecure RPATH in community/llvm package [#1] also fixed some others issues that I encountered.
