Hello everyone, I noticed that there are several duplicates of extra packages in the AUR or at least they share the same name. [aur-general] Can't upload package to AUR

Hi, I've just built the new version of kernel26-fbcondecor (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=15603) based on the split package kernel26 from [core]/abs. It builds and installs fine and it creates every three packages. The first problem is that makepkg --source doesn't include the .install file into the package. The second problem is that I can't upload the archive which I then created with tar cfvz kernel26-fbcondecor.tar.gz kernel26-fbcondecor which includes the file kernel26.install. When I try to upload it I get a page with this error message: "Submit Use `makepkg --source` to generate source packages for submission! Invalid name: only lowercase letters are allowed." The package name is definitely correct. Is this a bug in AUR? If AUR parses the PKGBUILD's variable pkgname then it should parse the variable pkgbase instead if it's a split package because pkgname is an array in split packages. Greetings, Heiko

Hi Everybody. I need some help, i'm the current mantainer of dosbox-cvs package and i have a problem. The source code of CVS repository isn't being mainteined recently, it's deprecated. Instead, the SVN repository is actually mantained for the devel team and for the moment the one. I have no problem to update the PKGBUILD, but i need to change the name of the package because it won't be CVS anymore. Can any TU help me with that? -- José Valecillos

Hello, The python-numpy package [extra/python-numpy 1.3.0-2] is an orphaned package and out-of-date too. I have edited the old PKGBUILD to work with the new release of numpy. After some search, I found the best way to deal with it is, to mail it on this list. Doing the same. Thanks. ~punchagan

Hey guys, Coming Monday I'll get the key of my new apartment where I'll be living together with my girlfriend. That's all fine and such but before I can move our stuff I have to do quite a bit of work in the new apartment. This all means that I'll still be around and try to keep up with package releases (I'll make sure everything is up to date before Monday) during that period, but I won't be able to quickly respond to urgent matters or quickly fix bugs. I'll be checking my e-mail regularly though so I'll be able to ask for help if needed. Sometime I also have to arrange an internet connection there but I hope to have this arranged before I move. I'm not too sure how long this will take but I hope to be living there in ~1 month. Feel free to fix any of my packages during that period if you see necessary. Ronald

Hi all, Besides loving Arch, a few reasons made me leave it as my main distribution. I could surely adapt Arch to my new personal needs, due to its simplicity and flexibility, but due to lack of time and real life pressure, it would not be possible anytime soon. So I'm resigning as a Trusted User. I'd like to thank you all for giving me this outstanding opportunity and experience. Special thanks to hdoria, angvp, bardo, wonder, foutrelis, ornitorrincos, stefanhusmann, sergej, pierre and all you that helped me or worked with me on a package. I have a few packages at community. I hope you can adopt some of them. In special, I'd like to ask that if some TU uses OSS frequently, he adopts it, as this package may require some special care, being a driver package. Most of the users that ask help in the OSS IRC channel are Arch users, so we should have a good amount of OSS users. Regarding packages in unsupported, it would be nice if some TU could adopt virtualbox_bin. This package needs some care and it would be nice to merge bdheeman's dkms work (virtualbox-sun package) so the duplicates can be removed. Also it would be nice if someone could contact the VirtualBox developers (there is even an irc channel - #vbox) and offer to make this package official. I mean, they have a repository for debian-based and for redhat-based distributions, so maybe they could make an archlinux repository and offer directly there an official ready-to-install package if some help is offered to them. I will list below my community and unsupported packages to ease adoption. [community] - oss-related (oss, skype-oss) - djvu-related (djview4, pdf2djvu -> pstreams) - lua-related (luadoc, luafilesystem, luajit, lualogging) - netsurf-related (netsurf -> hubbub, libnsbmp, libnsgif, libparserutils) - latex-related (texmaker) [unsupported] - vbox-related (virtualbox_bin) - oss-related (xulrunner-oss) - electronics-related (alliance, chipmunksystem, logisim) - lua-related (iup, cd, im, gnuplot-luaterm) - ion3-related (ion-3, trayion) - djvu-related (gsdjvu) - irc-related (kvirc-svn, qirssi) - driver stuff (samsutools) - other stuff (chestnut-dialer, eresi-svn, python-mpmath, uspnet) By the number of votes, some of them can even go to community if some TU is interested. Packages virtualbox_bin-1, virtualbox_bin-2, virtualbox_bin-3_0 are legacy stuff requested by users to be left out. The netcfg-rt73 and qc-usb packages are legacy stuff that are probably useless nowadays, unless someone uses an old custom kernel. Best regards, Paulo Matias

oregano seems to be upstream abandoned(last release is from 2007) and I'd like to orphan it and move it to the aur(unless some TU wants to adopt it in community). So, anyone interested?

Hi, Since I am still moving (now to a new apartment), I have not internet connection there, I am getting it but I don't know when they will install me the connection (people says that if I am lucky it will be a week, but I really don't know) I have internet connection on the job (a decent one) and I could bring my laptop to do some updates or something, but eventually my response time won't be short (1 day or more). So I decided to mark myself as away (or Andrea a.k.a bash will send an e-mail asking for my deletion haha :P) but eventually I hope to handle this situation.
