Hello guys! To what people and/or group of peoples I can assing tasks for orphaned packages (examples: [#1] [#2] [#3]) ? I think that many packages are always maintained by Dan Griffiths (Ghost1227) and Ionut Biru (wonder). There are no problems if I assing task to both? Sometimes I assing based on "#Maintainer" field in PKGBUILD and or SVN commiter that is ok, but there are other cases that this information is not valid anymore. Thanks in advance. [aur-general] Can't build packages for a week or so...

Hey all...I'm in the process of migrating to a new machine (and I'll finally be able to build x86_64!), so I won't be able to get anything updated until I'm set up. I've had some oddity with packaging since community's switch to SVN, but hopefully I'll get that all ironed out on the new machine. I don't think there's anything of mine that's too critical to get updated right away (nothing that can't wait a week or so). I'll post back if I continue to have problems or have questions once I'm back up and running...I'm assuming I'll have to send in a copy of my new SSH key for gerold access, and I've never done the building in a chroot before. Hi fellow TUs, I've just moved the latest pulseaudio (x86_64 only, ATM) in [community-testing] because I'd like to get some feedback before committing. I had some problems because it failed to deliver any output with the default configuration (which is _bad_), and I had to manually activate the alsa-sink and alsa-source modules in /etc/pulse/default.pa. So in short, I'd like a couple of signoffs from TUs, but every feedback on this new version is welcome.

[aur-general] Conventions on packages for cross-compiling

Hi all, I am seeking advice how to write correct PKGBUILDs for cross-compilers. The thing I am not sure about is where to install them. Trouble is that even the binary packages use different locations and I haven't found any other source where to get information from (for example, cross-arm-wince-cegcc-binutils uses prefix /opt/cegcc/ while mingw32-gcc uses /usr). So, which location would you recommend/is better? Another thing - is the correct naming convention 'cross-<arch>-<pkgname>'? I already created/uploaded cross-compiling tools for MIPS (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?O=0&K=cross-mips) before I realized that they might be wrong. I would be thankful for any hints on these as well. Thanks for any suggestions! Regards - Vojta

hi, As you might already know , webkit-gtk and its dependency libsoup are always under heavy development . I added {libwebkit,libsoup}-newest PKGBUILDS to the AUR because libwebkit releases started to depend on development releases from libsoup(2.27.x) . With gnome 2.28.x entering extra , the *-newest packages provide the same versions available in the official repos. Should I ask for the deletion of those packages ? Or keep them around in case webkit starts to depend on libsoup 2.29.x ?

A user by the name of "Jamie" on the forum wants an AUR account with the same name: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=81872 The problem is that the account is already taken but whoever owns it has never used it to upload a package or vote. If it were up to me alone, I would try to contact the owner of the account and either request that (s)he give it up if I get a response or simply switch it over otherwise. My reasoning is that it makes more sense to have the same name on the forum and the AUR (and everything else with a separate account) because it makes it easy to know who's who, which has implications for the AUR. What do the other TUs (and interested devs) think? I think this is a rare enough event to not have to worry about a flood of requests to grab matching names on the AUR. Btw, in case you're wondering, Jamie tried to post a message to the list following my suggestion on the forum but it apparently didn't get through so he asked me to do it, hence this message. Hi all, I'd like to re-apply to my TU position. Since I've resigned [0], many things happened, in my life, and work. In these times I was very dissapointed about myself, cause I was having problems to handle my life, my projects, and of course, Arch, then I decided to go on with less workload at least. Now, I have free time again to dedicate it to the community and the project, and my goals this time are more specific from my first application [1], this time I'd like to: a) Improve and support the python and haskell scene since I am enthusiastic of these languages b) To help others TU, or Devs (with the permission of them), to reduce their loads on community doing tests, maintaining, updating or just simply building their packages in the differents architectures (I have i686 and x86_64 but now I am using x86_64) c) Report, and close bugs from me and others TU or Devs (away or with highly load), of course with the permission of them. d) Maintain and collaborate with the Arch Project in general, writting in the wiki, random coding, etc. I talked with Evangelos Foutras a.k.a foutrelis to ask him if he would like to be my sponsor, and he accepted, so since I knew many of you when I was a TU, I hope you will recognize my skills and my dedication on this project, and even when I wasn't active (as a TU) I ever tried to be helping with the distro, and I always try to do my best overall. Hi, This script updates or inserts md5sum just run this script in PKGBUILDs dir. It works for my packages at least) It is better than makepkg -g >>PKGBUILD because it inserts md5 just before build() function.
