I dont apply any extra patches, one of them break the corrected issue for jmicron on device names. Hi all, what is the policy or recommendation for applying patches to upstream sources? For a standard package that is listed as such (ie. not a patched version) then I assume the only patches applied are those to make it compile and install. If I were to add some patches that enhanced the functionality then I would create a new package in AUR that stated that. Also, please do not translate if you are unwilling to maintain or find someone to maintain the translation. This is due to the fact that the AUR is a rapidly evolving project and there are constantly new strings to be translated appearing. For a while now, I've been adopting packages that I'm not actually interested in, and in some cases don't really even understand, just because I have the time to help out and want to be a nice guy. I'm having second thoughts about the wisdom of this. Should I orphan these packages, on the off-chance that somebody more appropriate wants to own them? Is a mediocre maintainer better than no maintainer?

Hi all, I will be inactive starting from tonight to 26th July. At 9pm (GMT+1) I will start my inter-rail[1] with 2 friends; we will visit London, Amsterdam, Berlin and Prague. Hello, my name is Jezra and I'm interested in making a PKGBUILD for a commandline audio player that I wrote in Vala. Actually, I've already written a PKGBUILD but, through reading the AUR documentation, it was advised that I first post the PKGBUILD to the mailing list because this is my first PKGBUILD. I have attached the PKGBUILD source and I would appreciate feedback. I also have a question regarding making packages for AUR. The name of my application is 'sap' and a search of the AUR turns up another application named sap. What is the best way to resolve the issue of name collision for packages in AUR? jezra

Hi, I suggest removing php-qt [1]. I adopted it as very outdated package (ver 0.1) and tried to rebuild the new version (0.9), but according to developers, the version 0.9 has problems with building against the new Qt (found on mailinglists from November 2008) and they recommend using sources from SVN. Therefore I created package php-qt-svn which builds against the latest software without problems. Hello everyone. I'm interested in becoming a TU. Thotypous has agreed to be my sponsor. My current goals are: 1 - Doing my best to help in improving the AUR.
