Hi there. I've just stepped into the arch and I'd like to participate. The org package is highly out of date, so I updated it. I'd like to share this small contribution with everyone, but the package is already maintained by rwanderley. I contacted the maintainer and sent him my updated version ten days ago, but had no answer to this day. Would it be possible to take the charge of maintaining this package ? take care Jiyunatori PS : what is the policy about renaming a package in the AUR ? is there a naming policy for emacs modes ?

Hello everyone. This morning I looked orphan package and I found some packages that could be remove: - sharpmusique : source is not available anymore - eclipse-kde : source is not available anymore - fvwm-trans : outdate, did not build - gimp-freetype : made for gimp 2.0, not available from official gimp website - gnash-cvs : gnash use Bazaar now - kanola : did not build, no update by his creator since 2 years - kdeaddons4 : made and submited in 2006 - kdeedu4 : same ^ - kdepim4 : same ^ - kdeless : splited by his maintainer into other package - madman-devel : no update, problem with Faad, official website is down - menu : replace by archlinux-xdg-menu in community - menu-xdg : same ^ - netscape-navigator : closed-sources, end of support by netscape - poppler-qt4 : use old Qt4 from community - pynealpm: use old libalpm - qgnokii : depend on qt3 but still use depend=(qt) - sqcam-cvs : depend on kernel26 and was not update since 1 year... - xscreensaver-arch : did not work - ymessenger : no update since 3 years, PKGBUILD license is GPL ? - fluxbox-styles-boxwhore : boxwhore website is dead Hope this help.

[aur-general] TUs: anyone want to take dmd into community?

Hey, I spoke to Walter and he told me that it would be okay to let Arch Linux distribute dmd in the repositories. I'm not a TU, but feel free to take over the dmd and libphobos packages (and perhaps even libtango). (for those who don't know what dmd is: it's the main compiler for the D programming language) Anders

I'll move the ones left orphan to unsupported somewhere next week. note that python-geotypes is a dependency of mezogis (0 votes, maintained by dtw) so it should stay in community if mezogis stays. Hi TUs, I have uploaded an updated python package to testing. This removes the searching of the /usr/lib/python2.4 directory for modules (as python2.5 modules should be installed in the 2.5 directory). This will break a few packages whose files are still on the old python2.4 directory and anything that depends on them. Here is the packages I have found that need rebuilt: bhv-0.0.10-1 (sergej) diacanvas-0.14.4-1 (BaSh) everygui-0.99.b-1 (Romashka) pychecker-0.8.17-2 (sergej) pyrtf-0.45-1 (sergej) pysdl_mixer-0.0.3-2 (sergej) python-chardet-1.0-1 (sergej) python-galago-0.5.0-1 (sergej) python-galago-gtk-0.5.0-1 (sergej) python-mpdclient2-0.11.1-2 (codemac) webboard-0.2-3 (sergej) These just need rebuilt with python (v2.5) so their files are installed in /usr/lib/python2.5. In general, it should not be necessary to use the python version in [testing] as the current version in [extra] will package most files in the right place. I think packages built using scons may require the [testing] version. Just check that there are no files in /usr/lib/python2.4 once you have finished rebuilding the packages. Cheers, Allan

[aur-general] AUR upload problem

Hello, i have a problem uploading a package to AUR. It's revoked, but there isn't a package named nxcomp, neither in AUR nor in official Repos. Error is(translated): You are not allowd to overwrite the existing package nxcomp I've send a mail on arch-genereal ML and Callan point me to a releavant bugreport http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/8672 The problem is: This package is a dependency of some other packages which i already put in AUR. So could one of you TUs please put the package in AUR? Maybe orphand after that, so i could take it. I attach the tarball, it should be in category libs.
