Hi all .. [arch-general] [Information] Outdated rtirq scripts don't work with current kernel-rt

Hi :) just an information, since rtirq doesn't fit to the current kernel. Even https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=25441 is outdated. I got it from the archaudio repos. This cause that settings aren't working. Here a RME card seems to be loaded as the highest priority audio card, but the status shows that it isn't [1]. Using the current version everything is ok [2]. When Rui edit rtirq, than he does this for good reasons. Usually outdated rtirq scripts don't work. I'll try to build a package using abs tomorrow. Cheers! [arch-general] Kmod testing

Fisrt Kmod experience, which spit out a lot of udevd messages, logged in, startx, openbox starts, then one locked up box. I was going to Ctrl Alt F2, log in, and do some work with udevadm but I had no keyboard of mouse control. I turned the box off then on to reboot, pacman -Rdd kmod pacman -S module-init-tools then reboot. I've examined the boot log from the previous run and here is a sample. After the install of Kmod, before I rebooted, I read the help message from kmod --help and there were commands listed for compatibilty mod with modprobe. I've already been triggering the udev rules after I boot to find my audio card but that wont work for this behavior because triggering the rules will simply look for /sbin/modprobe again. The kernel update came in at the same time, so the initrd images were rebuilt prior to rebooting. For know I've put kmod in my ignore packages line in pacman.conf. Do the udevd rules need to be written to point to kmod with it's compatibility mode or is there another solution? Thanks for any assistance. Myra -- Life's fun when your sick and psychotic!

[arch-general] Intel AES-NI instructions error

I just noticed today after a fresh reboot that whenever my laptop connects now wirelessly, I get a new message in dmesg saying: Intel AES-NI instructions are not detected. Figuring was a bad boot or something along those lines I tried a couple more reboots, to no avail. It is still mentioning this once I connect to wifi, does not show up if I just leave the machine running not wirelessly connected. From what I read online nothing seems to be relating to wifi, most things I have read is to attach quiet to the boot commands and that would solve it, well I already have quiet and it does not show up during boot its only once the wifi card is used. I could not find anything that appeared to be similar or related. Does anyone know why this error is now showing up? Everything is updated right before I rebooted the last time, the only things that changed today for me were gnutils and another x-keyboard config update. Should I be worried about this or? Thanks for any help and info

Hello list! I hope this is not offtopic and I hope to find help here because Archlinux has python3 as default python. I have a software, a Music Notation Editor, here that can start in a one-liner and I need to find a bug that only occurs on some systems. git clone git://github.com/nilsgey/Laborejo.git && cd Laborejo && ./laborejo-qt.sh This will download and run my software Laborejo as normal user without installing anything. The only modifications to your system are new dir .laborejo in your home directory and the downloaded files via git. The only dependency is pyqt and git to download it You will see 5 lines and a symbol. The symbol must be perfectly alingned within the five lines (one pixel above can be tolerated). It should look like this: http://www.wargsang.de/pyqt-bug-report.jpg Do you see that symbol shifted up or down or is it correct? Could you please answer me with the following information attached: Your graphic driver (type ("ati, nvidia, intel" etc. and closed or open source?) and desktop enviroment/window manager (Gnome, KDE, xfce, i3 etc.). If you want to add more information like qt version or X-Server it would be nice as well. Everything display related helps: I believe closed nvidia drivers will shift the symbol. I tested it myself on ati and intel graphics, both 32 and 64 bit and it looked good, both on Linux and Windows. Other users with ati and intel GPU's had no problem. But two persons with an nvidia card had the wrong display. It would be very nice to hear from you! No. Everything is fine. I just removed the auto-insert of that item because the issue is fixed. a funny bug in the Xorg server that could allow attackers with physical access to a machine to bypass the screensaver/screen locker program. Most people use those programs to lock their computer when they are away. On Gnome, gnome-screensaver is responsible for this. On KDE, kscreenlocker is. [arch-general] pacman 4 and "empty" repos

In ArchHaskell we are heavy users of mkarchroot/makechrootpkg for building packages. When setting up the root chroot pacman is configured with a local db located at `/repo`, this makes already built packages available as dependencies later on in a multi-package build, and by using makechrootpkg's '-d' argument it all happens automatically. With pacman 3 this didn't cause troubles besides a few warning messages about [repo] not being available (the db isn't created until the first package is built). Pacman 4 doesn't seem as forgiving though--it fails completely unless the db exists (though it may be completely empty). [arch-general] makepkg having troubles with extracting some sources after pacman 4 update

today one of users of one of my packages (daggerfall in AUR) noticed, and I confirmed, that makepkg wasn't able to extract needed files, while it was working perfectly for pacman 3.x. The message is -> Extracting dos32a-912-bin.zip with bsdtar binw/: Can't remove already-existing dir bsdtar: Error exit delayed from previous errors. ==> ERROR: Failed to extract dos32a-912-bin.zip Aborting... ==> ERROR: Makepkg was unable to build daggerfall. I've seen other people having similar problems, for example extracting .jar file of minecraft package - googled for it and checked pacman changelog for hints, but no luck. I planned to go trough all my packages anyway to check pacman 4 compatibility. For now, I added noextract for all .zip sources and unzipped them in build function and it works as a workaround, but it isn't nicest/best way. Before opening bug report I decided to ask if this is a known thing, maybe some new feature I missed that requires some different approach for some (most likely zip) archives? Thanks, Andrzej.
