[arch-general] Packages "jami-gnome" and "libjamiclient" out of date

Hi archers, Packages "jami-gnome" and "libjamiclient" are flagged out of date since 2019-11-16 / 2019-11-20. There are two new releases in place. I tried to contact the maintainer twice but nothing happened. I retrieved the maintainers (Bruno Pagani) mail adress from this mailinglist. I suspect the mails didn't ever get there. Any hints how to proceed? -- Friedrich

[arch-general] package pages link to github (which is partly broken)

Hi, I just noticed the package pages linking to github, instead of https://git.archlinux.org/. So far, trying to view the commit history for any community package just resulted in a page with the message: > Sorry, this commit history is taking too long to generate See, i.e. here: https://github.com/archlinux/svntogit-community/commits/master/element.io/t… I can find the package I'm interested in manually in https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/community.git/ but is there a better solution for this planned somehow? [arch-general] systemd package: include additional Arch-based boot splash (.bmp) image?

It seems that we have splash-arch.bmp included with Arch Linux systemd package. The included .bmp image is the two-color standard version (arch word in black text). It would be useful to also include the two-color inverted version (for dark backgrounds, also Arch main logo). The .bmp images are useful, for example for setting up boot splash image for people booting with dracut initramfs. Who is the best person to report/talk to regarding this request?

[arch-general] Anyone having problems refreshing PGP keys lately?

Good morning all, I am wondering if anyone is having problems refreshing PGP keys from the default server? I can force it to use the ipv4 server, but using mate-terminal with orca I am unable to edit the /etc/pacman.d/gnu/pgp.conf file to change the server. Orca will not read it and plume will not open it with sudo rites. Any ideas on this one? This is an older arch vm which will not update till the PGP keys have been updated and imported. I do not have speech in a conc so that would not work. Thanks. Matthew

[arch-general] mkinitcpio hook for custom root decryption with systemd boot

I have root encryption set up on my system and I currently boot with the sd-encrypt and sd-lvm hooks. I would like to change my current crypto setup in a way that would require more step to unlock the root than just typing in a passphares. For this reason, sd-encrypt clearly cannot serve my use case. For this reason, I would like to write a custom hook to mount the root volume. Now, systemd boot doesn't have a concept of runtime hooks. Thus, I need to make a systemd unit that gets pulled in by cryptsetup.target in the place of systemd-cryptsetup@.service. (Basically, I need to replace the whole systemd-cryptsetup-generator and systemd-cryptsetup logic.) However, I really have no idea on how to achieve this. Should I write a custom mkinitcpio hook which completely bypasses sd-crypt/cryptsetup.target and instead starts a different unit with my own decryption logic? Or is there a way to hook into cryptsetup.target and instruct it to pull in my logic instead of systemd-cryptsetup*? Of course, the other possibility is to just stop using a systemd boot and instead setting up a busybox early userspace. Then it's just a matter of writing a shell script. However, since I'm already using systemd for everything - from the bootloader to userspace - I don't think it makes much sense to do that. Any help/guidance/suggestion/criticism is highly appreciated. Riccardo Paolo Bestetti

[arch-general] adding Polybar to offical Repos

Dear all, i am using i3 wm with Polybar as my status bar. i created the currently installed packages list using pacman's hook command. when i try to do fresh installation, i can get only the packages that are present in official Repos that doesnot include Polybar. Then after installing Yay i can get Polybar from AUR. it is quite inconvenience, and i dont know why Polybar is not added to official packages, Polybar is quite popular as well as it has quite good features. is is possible to include Polybar to the official packages under extra or community? if not could u plz explain? [arch-general] Question about packaging a library (AUR)

Hello, I am the maintainer of the 'transcribe' AUR package. Recently, I have received a request (cc) about also packaging and providing a proprietary library that comes along with 'transcribe'. I quote: * videosection, a special plugin provided by us as part of the download, can be found in the file libgstvideosection.so and it needs to be alongside the transcribe executable.* I tried to provide the videosection library in /usr/lib, but that doesn't work. I don't feel comfortable providing the library in /usr/bin. Do you know an appropriate way to deal with such cases? Is it preferable to install the executable in a separate folder alongside the library? For example, /opt/transcribe? Thanks in advance, Dominik

[arch-general] Why bind-tools was merged into bind package?

I can understand that packagers want to make things easy, but not in this case. I cannot have a full service installed with a new user created, only host, dig and nslookup commands. The splitted package bind and bind-tools had this option, but now I must install a service that I do not need which is annoying. There is any way to reconsider this? [arch-general] My font rendering has changed

Since a few days ago, font rendering inside my desktop environment (SwayWM) seems to have changed. E.g. title bars are now rendered using a generic monospaced font instead of the usual one, and Termite does not seem to be able to load the Fira Code font and falls back to its default font. bemenu is also rendering differently and with a different font. I cannot find anything obvious in /var/log/pacman.log. I.e. I have done a full system upgrade lately but it doesn't seem to include anything that could have obviously caused this. Has anyone had anything similar? Where could I look to debug the issue? Best regards, Riccardo Paolo Bestetti
