Bring ARM into the fold?

Is it time to bring Arch Linux ARM into the fold of Arch Linux? The GNU toolchain of ALARM is now very behind, and the developers are dead silent about why. There little to no response on pull requests on the github page, and while it seems like there is activity on their PKGBUILDs repo, it almost seems to me that it is some kind of automatic jobs being run. Their forum is broken and has been broken for quite some time as well. -- chs

[arch-general] System terribly slow

Hi, I'm looking for some advice trying to pinpoint why or where my system has becoming almost unusable slow. Searching the web I've found some hints but nothing precise enough. Maybe it's a failing HDD, but I'm first posting what I have until now in the hope someone can give some advice. Superficial symptoms are a general slowness. I'm using just IceWM and `startx` to initialize the GUI, and even logging into my account previous to that takes almost a minute to get done. Then any application I launch takes minutes to just start (from IceWM to firefox, from qtox to pcmanfm or geany, etc.). Even navigate the folders tree with pcmanfm takes 10 or more seconds just to show any folder content... Linux-6.12.10.arch1-1 causes FAT32 mount failure

Hello all, after upgrading my kernel (standard linux package) to 6.12.10.arch1-1, my computer would now only boot into the systemd emergency shell. After further inspection, I found out this was caused by the kernel failing to mount my EFI system partition which caused systemd to no longer be able to reach local-fs.target[0]. This was easily confirmed by commenting out the line in my /etc/fstab after which the system would boot semi-correctly. Furthermore the kernel does not appear to actually be 6.12.10 but 6.12.9 as indicated by /proc/version and the journal[1]. I first thought this was an error and that pacman just didn't upgrade the package correctly, but after reinstalling it (signature matched), manually deleting the old kernel, regenerating the initramfs and verifying that pacman had actually downloaded the newest version, I still got the same result. I really have no idea of how I would fix this, since the kernel is supposed to have FAT32 support by default so I just downgraded linux and linux-headers back to 6.12.9.arch1-1 and everything is working again. arch-signoff package - Merge Request (resend)

Originally sent on Jan 17 '25 and now resending since list did not seem to be working at that time. I came across arch-signoff a little while back and after trying it out, it seems pretty useful. I made a couple of changes to the code and submitted a merge request [1]. Obviously not terribly important at all but it isn't clear if gitlab notifies anyone for this package. Changes in MR are : - Add option/environ for dark terminals (blue doesn't show up well with gnome terminal dark theme for example) - Add color scheme support for light/dark using a new Colors class. - Replace setup.py with pyproject.toml (PEP 518) The MR was about a month ago, so perhaps someone can accept it or delete it or something.
