[arch-general] kernel linux-4.8.6-1-x86_64 not able to load modules

Hey list, After, as suggested in arch-annoucne, I force-upgrated ttf-dejavu I made a full system upgrade with pacman -Syu. This installed the latest linux kernel. (the one in the subject line) The initram was completed successfully and I procceded to reboot. Then Xserver would complain about my intel module (i915) After a while I figured that nothin was loaded. I had no internet connection (ip link would only show loopback), when I plugged a USB drive the kernel woudln't detect it, and so on... I downgraded to linux-4.8.4 using arch live with arch-chroot. Everything works but when I upgrade to the latest kernel the same thing happens. Since I am prety new to the linux power user world, I have no idea what to do next. Should I file a bug? Ad if yes how do I do that? Also about the kernel upgrade, should I just skip 4.8.6 and get the next one? Since I didn't see anything in the list about linux-4.8.6 I guess it must have something to do with my setup. Any suggestions will be really helpful!

[arch-general] Almost system crash, users getting logged out

Hi list, I had an "almost crash" last night. When I got up in the morning, the session on the first six TTYs were closed, but the sessions on TTY 8-10 were still open. Having taken a look at the journal, I found a lot of activity around 4AM. That may have been preceeded by something around midnight, when my music player suddenly quit, the system informing me, that there was not enough memory. A restart of the music player was successful though. I don't have any remote login services active and this sort of thing hasn't happened before, not on Arch since my installation a few weeks ago nor on the previous system. My kernel version is 4.8.2, not having rebooted since the last upgrade. [arch-general] Getting Groove to Work Properly Under Arch?

Hi, I am not sure if anyone has been having a similar issue, so here goes. I recently signed up for Groove Music so that i can have a cross- platform means of accessing my collection (primarily from my Arch box and the Xbox). I have discovered that there is a Groove web client so this should, in theory work. But practice, at the current moment, is not equal to theory; I am getting an error about how Groove can't play a particular song. Before, I was getting an error about how Flash is required, so I've installed the flashpluggin package. This is where I stand now. [arch-general] Iptables block https traffic apache

Hi, I have configured apache + php + mysql in my house. I like block the specific url traffic over https... I found this: iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp --sport 443 -m string --string "anything" --algo kmp -j REJECT But not works... With http works very well... Any ideas?? Thanks in advanced.

[arch-general] ttf-dejavu putting files in the wrong place

Hi The fontconfig for the package should go in /etc/fonts/conf.avail since I was advised to create symbolic links to /etc/fonts/conf.d/ to enable specific features. If this is not the case, the wiki needs to be updated. Thanks guys! Regards Jagan

[arch-general] Cannot start 0ad (libboost problems)

Hello, when I want to start "0ad", I'm getting the following error message: /usr/bin/pyrogenesis: error while loading shared libraries: libboost_filesystem.so.1.61.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I've already tried to re-install boost and boost-libs. Kind regards Peter

Specifically, I am speaking of cryptographically signing the checksums for source files downloaded by the build scripts, so that they download what the author of the build script _intended_ them to download. This is presumably the same reason for ensuring sources are downloaded via HTTPS instead of HTTP, where possible — adding a cryptographic authentication to ensure someone building a package does not get sources without being aware they are modified: only embedding signatures in the PKGBUILD is trusting the Arch devs via the pacman keyring or parallel method, instead of the (flawed) CA system. If there is another reason to switch to HTTPS, please — make me aware of it!
