[arch-general] time setting problem after installing.

Hi all, I just installed arch into a vertual machine dfor now as I do not have a bare boons system to install to at the moment. Any way I have a problem whare my system thinks I am in lundon uk and not in the us. I have tried running NTPD-QG but I am told that the command not found. I want the clock to show the correct local time and not have it showing 4 hours ahead of it self. Any ideas on how to fix this. I want to show it in .profile, but it just creates a new file instead of using the exhisting file. How can I change my time to the corect local time? Thanks. Matthew -- Sent from my Arch Linux VM

I had been using it to install archlinux specifically talkingarchlinux. It mostly works ok until I do alsactl store and then I get a state lock error. As a result of this failure, I can finish up a talkingarch installation but on reboot, I have no speech on the system. Does a way exist I can clear this problem? The only reason I'm doing this is because the wifi network I had set up and working with netctl also died and I'm going to have to wipe the hard drive and reinstall talkingarch to clear this problem. --

[arch-general] Using libpqxx with clang

Hi, With the recent update of libc++ I wanted to continue compiling and testing a C++14 project with clang (and gcc), but unfortunately the libpqxx package is compiled for gcc - it is impossible* to use with clang at the moment. It used to properly work several months ago. I believe the recent update of libc++ introduced incompatibilities between the two compilers and it's libraries and that's why the above issue arose. Anyways, did anyone manage to compile libpqxx dependent code using clang++ 3.8 and libc++ 3.8? Or does anyone have an idea on how to fix the package while retaining compatibility with both compilers at the same time? * or am I missing something? Regards, Garmine

I have successfully created a gpg key pair on one of my computer. I would like to use the same pair on another computer, so the need to export. Here are the commands: $ gpg --output tth_pub.gpg --armor --export KeyID Results in -rw-rw-r-- 1 poisonivy poisonivy 1.7K Jul 6 13:34 tth_pub.gpg Fine. Now with private one: $ gpg --output tth_sec.gpg --armor --export-secret-key KeyID gpg: WARNING: nothing exported I have the tth_sec.pgp but with size of zero. [arch-general] ML is being sent to Spam by Gmail

Recently a (disproportionately) large number of emails from the various Arch Linux mailing lists are getting rerouted to my Spam folder in Gmail. It seems to have started roughly around the time of this change: [arch-devops] Finally fixed DKIM (I hope)[1] dkim header remarks indicate either failed or missing dkim sigs for those messages. [arch-general] Package are signed... but pacman doesn't like them...?

Good morning, some days ago I found a nice service called "Open Build Service", which allows all kind of packagers, including also Arch ones, to have different repos of their packages, having them built online. This is awesome for me, as some of them require heavy building time. I fought a bit against the service, in order to make the GPG public key to be uploaded to a key server, in order to allow users to add it properly to pacman-key. Now, I am facing a really strange issue: I've added the key to pacman keyring, using: sudo pacman-key -r 05E0A765C649DE23 sudo pacman-key --lsign-key 05E0A765C649DE23 Database syncing works properely and the signature is verified... But for packages it is not. Every time it gives an error as this: $pkgname-$pkgver $pkgsize $dw_speed 00:00 [--------------------] 100% (1/1) checking keys in keyring [--------------------] 100% error: $pkgname: unsupported signature format(0/1) checking package integrity (1/1) checking package integrity [--------------------] 100% error: GPGME error: No data I tried to download the public key and adding to my personal GPG keyring. Verifying the packages signatures works perfectly. To try this, I fetched the .sig file online and used the GPG --verify command. Any hints? Now, the needed data. [arch-general] Where is the ISO?

According to everything on the Arch Linux Downloads page: https://www.archlinux.org/download/ archlinux-2016.07.01-dual.iso should be available. The torrent tracker keeps saying "torrent not found". Via DHT and PEX, I have connected to more than 50 peers in the torrent swarm, and none of them had even a single piece of the file. All of the HTTP mirror links simply return 404. Clearly the file exists, or there would not be a PGP signature for it. So could someone who has it please seed it at least once?

[arch-general] PyPI2PKGBUILD: Automated PKGBUILD creation for PyPI packages

I'd like to present PyPI2PKGBUILD (https://github.com/anntzer/pypi2pkgbuild) a new tool for automated PKGBUILD creation for PyPI packages. It is similar in spirit to the venerable pip2arch ( https://github.com/bluepeppers/pip2arch) but with a few improvements: - Python dependencies are found by installation in a temporary virtualenv (as far as I know, this is the simplest way to handle environment markers correctly (https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0496/)) moreover, PyPI2PKGBUILD calls itself recursively for dependencies that are not available as official packages (i.e., you can call `pypi2pkgbuild.py $pkgname` and get all the necessary packages created and built for you). Many packages do not correctly declare `cython` and `numpy` as dependencies so special handling is provided for them. - Non-python (binary) dependencies that are dynamically linked are resolved via `namcap` and `pkgfile`, and added to the `depends` array. Say, for example, that you want to create a package for `pyfftw`, which needs to link against `fftw`, which is provided by the official `fftw` package. You can run `pacman -S --asdeps fftw`, then run `pypi2pkgbuild.py pyfftw`; the PKGBUILD will correctly declare `fftw` as `depends`. - Missing license files are retrieved from Github/Bitbucket if possible. The general intent is to 1) allow one to install packages that are not available on the Arch (official or AUR) repos (I don't think the proliferation of "trivial" PKGUBILDs that simply do `python setup.py build` / `python setup.py install --root="$pkgdir"` on the AUR is a particularly good thing) and 2) allow one to update packages for which a new version is present on PyPI but not on the arch repos yet (by default, the packages are built with a pkgrel of 00, so that they'd be upgraded to official/AUR packages when those become available).
