Hello. Got this error when I try to start totem today : [fred@fredo-arch ~]$ totem & [1] 7902 [fred@fredo-arch ~]$ (totem:7902): Grilo-WARNING **: [plugin-registry] grl-plugin-registry.c:623: Failed to open module: '/usr/lib/grilo-0.1/libgrlupnp.so' [1]+ Segmentation fault totem I verified, and of course, I have "/usr/lib/grilo-0.1/libgrlupnp.so" installed. [arch-general] gcc 4.7.1 - any estimate for Arch?

Guys, Just checking to see if anybody has a guestimate on when gcc 4.7.1 might be ready for Arch? I have an infinite loop issue with the Trinity builds in 4.7 that is reportedly corrected on Fedora 17 with the latest gcc. 4.7.1 was release upstream yesterday. Hi, Every day, I run pacman -Syyu on my Arch x86-64 installed on ThinkPad T400. I did it today too and, without a single change in my configuration, I've noticed a new message on boot: Found hardware: "HDA-Intel: "Conexant CX20561 (Hermosa)" ... [arch-general] Keyboard and mouse not working in X

Last night, I updated my system with everything from the past week or so. Everything went smoothly. Today, however, I discovered that upon launching X, using, for instance, > xinit /usr/bin/xterm my computer stops responding to my USB keyboard and mouse. I can't even switch back to the console using CTRL-ALT-FN. If I SIGTERM the process from ssh, X closes normally and my keyboard resumes function in the console. I've checked, and none of the files in /etc/X11 were modified anytime recently. Any advice? pants.

[arch-general] Shutdown issue - after updates yesterday

After updating my systems yesterday I am getting a line with a fail at shutdown at the sigterm/killterm point on the screen after exiting from X. I can't find anything in the logs directly related to this but I do have in /var/log/errors/log: Jun 15 10:58:22 localhost NetworkManager[1441]: nm_supplicant_info_set_call: assertion `call != NULL' failed during the bootup time. I know that NetworkManager has had issues in Fedora 16 for a while - eg https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=826706 but I don't know if this is related or not. [arch-general] Arch box fine tuning

Hi everybody, after a few months of running ArchLinux, I feel more comfortable to fine tune my box, and will be happy to get some advices. I am far from being an expert, but usually manage to understand what I am doing and achieve my goals, even if it takes time and a lot of reading and googling. I can qualified myself as a n00b++. My Arch is installed on a SSD with a /boot, / and /usr partitions on it. /home is on another 2T SATA HD. My box dual boot with Ubuntu, even if I don't use it much often now (I wanted to start with Ubuntu to learn, then switch gradually to Arch). The host is a 4 CPU I7 3.4 Mhz with 32 RAM. Here are the changes I plan to make: -convert from MBR to GPT. I understand GPT is more convenient, and the move seems quite trivial using gdisk. -install GRUB2 on the SSD, as until now it was on Ubuntu, and I want to be able to totally delete this distro. -copy my separate /usr partition to my / on the SSD, as a separate /usr is not very convenient. I manage it, but would like to stick to upstream. -install compiz over my XFCE, to be able to give position to my app windows. I want somethimg simple, so maybe don't need the whole group. -build my own Kernel to light it, and maybe give a try to Liquorix -OC my GPU (Nvidia 560 GTX) with nvclock. -create some VM, but I think I am quite OK as I already trained on Ubuntu and the result was fine. I want to install Debian squeeze to run as a web server. Here again, just a training as my final plan is to build a professional website using a remote dedicated Linux server. As experienced users, maybe some of you have some good advices about all this. I usually do everything following Archwiki, very well writen and understandable. [arch-general] Virtualbox USB issues after upgrade

Hi, I'm running XP SP2 on Vbox, to handle an iPad2 by iTunes via USB cable. I already had issues in the past, but after an Arch update today sync, recovery, any similar operation doesn't work anymore, regarding to USB issues. I didn't update Arch and sync an iPad by Vbox/iTunes for a long time. Apple about iTunes and issues: "OS virtualization or emulation software may cause restore errors." "Error 1604 This error is often related to USB timing." [spinymouse@archlinux ~]$ uname -a Linux archlinux 3.3.8-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Jun 5 15:20:32 CEST 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux [spinymouse@archlinux ~]$ pacman -Qi virtualbox Name : virtualbox Version : 4.1.16-1 In the past I sometimes had to reconnect the iPad to Vbox, by Vbox's "Devices > USB devices". Now there always is a connection, but I get USB timing errors. Any ideas how to get back a working Vbox? Ciao, Ralf

Hello, Shortly after I last upgraded the alsa-firmware package, I realized that my system could not produce sound anymore. I certainly don't know if this has something to do with the certain upgrade or if it's related to something else that I can't think of at the moment. Is there anything I can do about this?
