[arch-general] KDE Thumbnail bug?

Recently after upgrading KDE on my arch64 installation, neither dolphin or konqueror don't show thumbnails for images. They just show the thumbnail as a question mark (like that for an unknown file). I deleted the configuration, etc. but still no solution. What can be the problem? [arch-general] Hard disc clicks

Recently I got preoccupied with the hard disc clicking sounds I have been hearing since I installed Arch Linux on my Asus 1201N. Anyway, I remembered that there was an issue that could dramatically reduce the life of the hard disc, then I looked up on Google and found this article [1]. I ran smartctl -A and noticed that each time I heard a click, one was added to Load_Cycle_Count. Then I ran hdparm -B 254 /dev/sda, but the Arch Wiki [2] says that it is best to set a smaller value, like 128, if you move your laptop a lot. The thing is, 128 keeps the hard disc spinning down a lot. In fact, 254 is quite noiseless, but as from 253 the clicking sound returns. I read this bug page [3] but found nothing new. It is worth remembering that, sometimes, when I'm watching a movie or TV show with mplayer, it stops for less than I second, then I hear the disc spinning faster and the video continues. So, how did you guys set the power manager with hdparm in your laptops? Does anybody else have this problem? Since I move my netbook often, should I set it to 128 even if it spins down more than four times a minute? Than you all. Helly Everybody I have got a problem with Kopete extra/kdenetwork-kopete 4.5.1-1 [5,04 MB] (kde kdenetwork) [Installiert] Instant Messenger After I had update KDE 4.5.0 to KDE 4.5.1 my system becomes Slowly. Then i found out that my system has 890MB Ram in use and 800 MB Swap. Then I have tried to close some programms and after I have closed Kopete my system only use 212 MB Ram und 193 MB Swap. Is it a bug in Kopete or is there some error in building the Kopete Programm. I have found out that the same problem is in my 2 others PC when I run Kopete it need much memory When you start kopete the memory becomes more and more in use by kopete 1Mb per Sec I looks like a memory leek Sincerely yours Carsten

[arch-general] HAL .fdi files stopped working

After an upgrade in the beginning of summer (don't remember what was updated) my hal fdi files in /etc/hal/fdi/policy stopped working, I had to change the keyboard mapping in the xfce settings and haven't been able to use my joypad since. I can't find anything on it with google and I've upgraded my system a couple of times since, but it still isn't working. Anybody who knows what might cause this?
