Hi, My name is Hyacinthe and I'm hereby applying to become a Package Maintainer. My application is sponsored by Rémi Gacogne (rgacogne), whom I met at FOSDEM this year, and Robin Candau (Antiz). I sincerely thank both of them for their availability and support. I live near Metz in France and I've been working as an HPC sysadmin at the University of Luxembourg for the last 15 years. You can find me by my first name on IRC or my unix login "hcartiaux" anywhere else. My Linux journey started in the 2000s with Mandrake 8.2 which was a magical (pun intended) experience, discovering all the desktop/window managers packed on the 3 CD-Rs, as well as Dreamcast-Linux which I used to write my first Hello World in C. I then used Ubuntu, Debian and Gentoo, before settling on Arch Linux in 2007, convinced by its design and the KISS philosophy. This experience has definitely shaped my professional skills and mindset. In the past years, I've shared my personal projects on GitHub[0] and more recently on Codeberg[1] as well. Among others, I've been particularly active in the dn42 community[2] and developed a BGP auto-peering service[3] which I had the opportunity to talk about at FOSDEM this year[4]. I also build and release OpenBSD cloud images[5] with cloud-init. On the Arch Linux packaging side, I am maintaining some packages on the AUR[6] and I've submitted a fair amount of Merge Requests on the Arch Linux gitlab, most notably to add missing nvchecker integration to packages[7]. I've also been active in the testing team, and started working on small PoC package testing suite using bash, bats and podman[8]. Some packages should obviously be tested on real hardware but, currently, testing packages is a quite repetitive and not well documented task, so I think that centralizing test cases as code could be a good idea. Aside from packaging-related contributions, I submitted two Merge Requests to pacman (pending approval): * one to fix compilation warnings (and make the CI green)[9] * another one to fix a bug (#297) regarding temporary directories left in /var/cache/pacman[10]. I genuinely enjoyed reading the pacman code. C is not my day job but I'm interested in everything low-level. Outside of the cyberspace, I like biking and hiking in the forest, ping me and I'll happily share my preferred spots in Luxembourg and in the greater area ;) If I'm accepted as a Package Maintainer, I'm especially interested in maintaining HPC and sysadmin related packages in [extra], such as: * clustershell * lmod * env-modules * netcalc * autofs I'd also be interested in moving the following AUR packages: * cvmfs * turbovnc * screen-message * ruby-hiera-eyaml * puppet-lint I'm willing to adopt some of the currently orphaned packages in [extra] (e.g. encfs, cdrdao, sg3_utils, nss-mdns) and also to help maintain some packages that only have one maintainer at the moment (e.g. bats* packages, gocryptfs, parted, iotop, smartmontools, autossh, python-paramiko, expect, ncftp, cdparanoia, powertop, unrar/unzip...). I may be interested in contributing to other areas as well in the future, such as bug wrangling and maybe infrastructure/devops (since I'm fairly accustomed to Ansible/Terraform). boost 1.91 optional changes broke build of AUR/mongodb44, need C++ help

All, Boost/boostlib 1.91 changes to boost::optional broke the build of https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/mongodb44 Most of these issues I can fix, but I'm stuck on this one unsure how to resolve the issue. The A/B test cases in the SO question leave me scratching my head on how that applies here, if it does? AUR mongosh, dfimium499 took over the repository and locked me as co-maintainer out

AUR Moderators, I was added as co-maintainer for mongosh by the original submitter. I've provided updates for the past year+. I just received notice of the package being out of date, updated the package, built in a clean chroot to confirm and made the source package and attempted to commit to git, but my account no longer works for this package and I am no longer listed as the co-maintainer. Attempting to commit results in: $ git push git-receive-pack: permission denied: drankinatty fatal: Could not read from remote repository. Please make sure you have the correct access rights and the repository exists. I was never contacted about this change and from the very long comment from dfimium499 -- it appears he has very little understanding of the package and how it is built and what it is comprised of. Hello! I had originally created the https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/hermes-agent-git package and then eventually disowned it, because I stopped using it and had no intention of maintaining it. I still got notifications tho, and today I got notified of a comment, went to check it out of curiosity and noticed that a user "acarrasco" had picked it up. The thing is, Agustin Carrasco is my name, which makes me really suspicious of this new maintainer; their user is also really new (same day I disowned it I think) and the mail doesn't match the username. Honestly it looks like some kind of bot that picks up orphaned packages and create a user based on the previous maintainer name or something like that. Could be nothing but thought it was worth bringing it up. Agustin.-

Is the AUR Blocking SSH access from certain IPv6 prefixes?

Hi all, I recently had to change my ISP provided modem and router and as I wanted to update an AUR package of mine, git just wouldn't push (it hung indefinetly). Then I checked the connectivity by using telnet which also just hung like git. If I then proceeded to check if it would work with IPv4 and there it would just connect and show me the ssh header. Put then I recently contacted a colleague of mine and told him my issue and he told me that it was working just fine for him. Of course I had to make sure that It wasn't just my own IPv6 config not working, but that was quickly ruled out as connecting to another ssh server via IPv6 worked just fine. And I also checked the MTU which is just the normal 1500 for me. So that's why I'm asking now if there is some server side block of certain IPv6 prefixes in place? This is my residential IPv6 prefix: *2001:1708:25b8::/48* (ISP being Sunrise in Switzerland) Cheers Julian

Hi! I’m Claudia aka Auerhuhn [1] from Darmstadt, Germany (@claui on GitHub [2]), and I’d love to join your team as a Package Maintainer. When I’m not busy putting stuff into packages (e.g. on the AUR), you can probably find me playing the piano, maintaining personal side projects in Python and other languages, and generally learning things. At my day job as a software developer for DB Systel, I maintain software that displays coach and seat numbers on trains so passengers know where to board („Reisendeninformation“). I was a maintainer with Homebrew for seven years, first with Cask [3] and later as a core team member [4], maintaining formulae and the CLI. I also helped bootstrap and orchestrate the aarch64 migration [5]. In 2021, I decided to leave the Apple ecosystem [6], even though that meant I had to say farewell to my fellows from Homebrew [7]. I’ve been daily driving Arch Linux ever since. I’m pretty much invested in free and open-source software: my phone runs a mobile Debian, and according to an LLM-generated roast, I’m a “FOSS Martyr.” When you meet me in person, ask me how life is going with absolutely no apps. Or don’t; I’ll probably tell you about it anyway. On `extra`, I’d like to maintain a couple of packages that I think will be useful for the CLI crowd: python-xlsx2csv (Excel textconv for Git), aider-chat (a FOSS alternative to Copilot), and python-llm. I’m also looking into adopting a number of entries from the list of orphaned Python packages [8] and possibly co-maintaining those that currently have only one maintainer. I’ve been occasionally contributing to Arch projects as well, e.g. namcap and aurweb [9], and will continue to do so if time allows. Thanks to Gromit and Anthraxx for sponsoring my application. Hi, I have contacted the current maintainer of the DbSchema AUR package ( marcin.j.nowak(a)gmail.com) requesting to be added as a co-maintainer, as the package is outdated and fails to build due to checksum mismatch. Version 10.1.0 is available, and I have prepared a working PKGBUILD with updated checksums. However, I have not received a response from the maintainer within a reasonable timeframe. I would like to either: 1. Be added as a co-maintainer to keep the package updated, or 2. Adopt the package if the current maintainer is unavailable I am committed to maintaining this package and ensuring it stays up to date. PKGBUILD licenses

Hello! I have a couple of questions, mostly regarding licensing for PKGBUILDs. 1. What should be put as the license for projects that have a license similar to a SPDX license, but doesn't match any? * One example of this would be allwpilib[1], which has a license very similar to the BSD 3-clause license, but since it has the word "NONINFRINGEMENT" after "MERCHANTABILITY", it doesn't match as the BSD 3-clause license (if I am reading the SPDX matching guidelines correctly) 2. I have a PKGBUILD that I made for allwpilib, and I needed to create a patch to allow it to build with -O2 instead of -O3. Should this patch be licensed under 0BSD, or the aforementioned modified BSD 3-clause license? I was thinking of submitting the PKGBUILD for allwpilib to the AUR, and any feedback would be greatly appreciated! I put a tarball with everything on google drive[2]. AUR package with python venv

Hello, I want to submit five packages to the AUR for the Psono Password Manager. It's open source and I got permission from the developer to do so with the disclaimer that they are not officially supported. Three of these packages require a python virtual environment (due to the extensive list of python dependencies that are not available in the Arch Linux repositories) and the way I initially approached this was to use the post_install() function in the install script. Here's the PKGBUILD review link on the forums: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=312591 With the advice of Lone_Wolf and twelveeighty I moved the venv creation to the build() function of the PKGBUILD. Psono is only available in a docker image format so I created a custom dlagent to download the docker image, extract the software I need for the package, tarball it and use the tarball as a source file for hash verification. Using a constant mtime value while creating the tarball makes sure the hash stays the same with the same files if they aren't changed upstream. My question for the AUR moderators and package maintainers is as follows: the python venv is created when building the package and is shipped with the package. Is this acceptable for the AUR? What's your opinion? Am I allowed to submit these packages like they are? I also attached one of the three packages' source so you can test building it yourself. Currently it doesn't have licenses set up yet. It's the enterprise edition of Psono's server software. There's also a community edition available that's free that I also intend to submit if allowed. davinci-resolve no longer downloads the upstream package; was this actually an AUR rules violation?

Hello all, this issue has been on my mind for a while, but I haven’t bothered to write to the mailing list about it until now. Before Muflone took over maintainership of the davinci-resolve packages (including davinci-resolve-studio and davinci-resolve-beta), the PKGBUILD would automatically download the upstream package from Blackmagic’s website. While Resolve is proprietary, the non-Studio version (and the beta) are freely available, requiring not even a proper login with the vendor. The download link on the website (https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve ) is behind a “registration” form, but this does not create a user account and to the best external knowledge, the data entered here is never verified in any way. Therefore, previous versions of the AUR package either used a download link obtained by the maintainer after filling out the form with arbitrary data, or replayed the form submission with fixed data during prepare(), obtaining a new download link for the user. Either way, the package contents are obviously always identical (regular hashing applied). The same is true for packages retrieved through the support center (https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/support/family/davinci-resolve-and-fusion ), where in fact the Studio version (which requires a paid license) does not require the submission of a form at all. However, Muflone changed this behavior to instead require a locally-downloaded version of the upstream package in all three cases. The user reception for this was mixed, additionally caused by the issue that AUR helpers need the upstream package file located in special cache directories and not the current working directory. Personally, I am strongly opposed to this change, but Muflone has deflected criticism by pointing out that “Packages must not contain black magic or unknown/hard to understand commands as users are required to check the PKGBUILDs before installing/updating from AUR” (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/davinci-resolve?O=60#comment-1013733 ). While I agree in spirit, I disagree in this specific case. There are multiple easy ways of obtaining the package that have been known for some time; a review of the package commit history confirms this. On the contrary, some of the changes required to make more technical aspects of the package work properly will not be easy to understand for users at times. Furthermore, a careful review of the AUR rules reveals to me that this kind of direct download is perfectly allowed, since in my opinion it doesn’t circumvent any real technical measures by the upstream provider; see elaboration above: form contents are not checked by the Blackmagic website, and sometimes skippable altogether. I’m writing to the mailing list to gain clarification on the matter: whether the manual download is actually more compliant with AUR rules than what was happening previously (before commit 7351177b553aa3983163450822bf251ec7f7ab75), and whether the previous approach was even in violation. If not, I’m not sure—if it’s possible that the AUR maintainers can urge Muflone to change it back, that would be excellent, but I don’t remember the AUR working that way. Blocking Muflone and/or orphaning the package is also not a reasonable approach, unless there is someone to step up to maintainership for the package (unfortunately not me, as I don’t use Resolve frequently enough, and often need to stay on older versions due to bugs frequently introduced in new releases). I hope I’m not overstepping any lines with this request, but as a user of the package it is very annoying when a (new) maintainer degrades the user experience for unclear/nebulous “rules compliance” and refuses to engage in discussions about it. This is also the reason I am writing here in the first place, I want to make it clear that I did of course try to discuss this on the package comment page first; over a year ago in fact. I also finally want to make it clear that this is not about piracy of the Studio version in any way shape or form; while the package download for it is still freely available from Blackmagic, it’s less important to change the PKGBUILD as the software isn’t free in the first place. Hi, I'd like to request deletion of the AUR repo "fuck" ( https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/log/?h=fuck) The repo was created by eshnd in September 2025 with three throwaway commits ("test", "added all", "/"). No valid PKGBUILD or .SRCINFO was ever pushed, so the package doesn't appear in AUR search or have a package page. It's effectively a name squat on an empty repo. I have a legitimate package I'd like to publish under this name. Thanks, Ronan

Hi everyone, I’m Jonathan, also known as tippfehlr. I am a computer science student at KIT in Karlsruhe, Germany, and I hereby apply to become a Package Maintainer. My Linux journey began with a Raspberry Pi 1B I received as a gift in 2017. After that, I hosted a few Minecraft servers on Linux Mint (though not on the 1B). A few years later, I did an internship in a company using openSUSE, but one person used Arch Linux and Neovim and impressed me a lot at the time. In 2021, I started using an old laptop for school and installed 32-bit Debian on it, but quickly switched to Arch Linux when I discovered it was a 64-bit CPU. With the experience I had from my laptop, I finally installed Arch on my PC in 2022. I had installed Manjaro before, but Arch was the first distro that replaced Windows for me. Since then, it always just worked. When I got a new laptop, Arch was simply the easiest thing to install. I started contributing to the AUR in late 2023, when I needed an INAV related package that was not yet available. Since then, I learned a lot about packaging and about the Arch community in general. A few years ago I also started self-hosting services for my family and realized that I enjoy the Sysadmin and DevOps side of software a lot. I mostly used Docker Compose until now, but I would like to learn more. So if there is need, I’d like to help there as well. Generally, I love tinkering and configuring, which probably isn’t surprising in this community. Just recently, I annoyed my brother because I ended up modding a game instead of actually playing it with him :) Outside the digital world, I love to play the Cello and like to read fantasy. Hello! I'm trying to gain access to an AUR account I haven't touched in years: KittyKatt (email: kittykatt(a)archlinux.us) The "Forgot password" page directed me to send a message here if I couldn't remember my username or email. That's not exactly the case, but hopefully I can get help here anyways. Unfortunately that email address has been dead for probably close to 6-7 years so there is no way for me to recover this by normal means. Is there any way to gain access back into this account or any way I can verify my identity? Thank you, Katie

Internal Server Error in AUR while trying to login

Hi, Today I have been unable to log in to AUR because of this error: 500 - Internal Server Error A fatal error has occurred. Details have been logged and will be reviewed by the postmaster posthaste. Hello, I've seen this user squats many packages dropped which are either dropped to AUR or abandoned, and then adds other people who are actually interested in said packages to co-maintainers. I've had this happen to me with 3 packages, which are also mentioned in examples list below. In the past few months I have seen this user push various nonsense commits to many packages. Some examples are: ruby-rails (and dependencies) where only pkgver was bumped, without testing any build. This resulted in build failures for simple reasons such as missing files: https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/commit/?h=ruby-actionview&id=a98abc6… https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/ruby-actionview#comment-1019144 pyload-ng, pushing changes without pulling first and other nonsense "updated" commits without testing also visible in git log https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/commit/?h=pyload-ng&id=c91cc2cb90daa… librewolf-hg, package "fixed" which resulted in pkgbuild being unusable https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/librewolf-hg#comment-981229 python-dukpy, changing license file name from right to wrong which prevented install: https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/commit/?h=python-dukpy&id=2ddc02e9fa… https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/commit/?h=python-dukpy&id=9d7aab0205… python-glfw, bumping pkgver, but this did not actually result in new version being built: https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/PKGBUILD?h=python-glfw#n13 These examples are not from malice or anything, but from not testing changes and incompetence. "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone", but I think that such over such long period of time (~6 months at least) mistakes in packaging without seemingly any improvement show that matthewq337 doesn't care about state of packages. Invisible pkgbase "radicle" prevents pushing — database intervention needed?

Hi, I am trying to push a pkgbase `radicle` consisting of one pkgname `radicle-node` (with the intention of subsequently asking the maintainer of `radicle-cli` to merge). There is no package `radicle` or `radicle-node` visible in the search or via direct URLs: https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/radicle -> 404 https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/radicle -> 404 https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/radicle-node -> 404 However, I am unable to push `radicle` via Git: ``` $ git remote add origin https://aur.archlinux.org/radicle $ git push -u origin master To aur.archlinux.org:radicle !
