[aur-general] zim-nightly package in AUR

Hello, There is a package called zim in [extra]. I've been using it, but today i realised that zim is rewritten with python rather than perl. Then I removed old version and switched to pyzim in AUR (Because package in [extra] is not updated for a while). However, there is a package called zim-nightly* in AUR, which is -*very*- obsolete :P (It's not updated for more than a year). New to this list but not to AUR, I subscribed to ask for someone to delete some comments on one of my AUR packages : http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=30159 rosedubai seems to be a windows xp (bleeh) user, who apparently looks for help for wifi on windows at the wrong place. (AUR page for an ethernet driver...) I explained him that patiently by mail. Can someone delete his comments ? -- Calimero

Hi Everybody. I need some help, i'm the current mantainer of dosbox-cvs package and i have a problem. The source code of CVS repository isn't being mainteined recently, it's deprecated. Instead, the SVN repository is actually mantained for the devel team and for the moment the one. I have no problem to update the PKGBUILD, but i need to change the name of the package because it won't be CVS anymore. Can any TU help me with that? -- José Valecillos

Hi, Yesterday Andrea (BaSh) moved to [community] exim, when I arrived home I got the bug notifications which the package had when it was on [extra]; but Daniel (Ghost1227) closes those bug too fast :O (I already said thank to him), now that those bugs are closed, I packaged a new release and it's on [community-testing] I would like some feedback from exim's user, so if the package it's ready I will move it from [community-testing] to [community]. Hi TUs, any of you are using oss? Now that Paulo has resigned, oss has no maintainer anymore and we have a bug pending on bugtracker. I can't do any fixes or maintenance since i don't use it and i don't intend to use it. -- Ionut

Greetings TUs, I just want to ask about the status of Shorewall and Shorewall6. I agree that it is worth keeping in [community] but it has been dropped to AUR several hours ago. Now it is back in [community], my AUR packages (that I initially just adopted) are deleted again. Hi, I have declared the brother-mfc210c-fixed-version 1.0.0-3 as outdated as there were two orphan packages that were essentially the same, but with a correction in the licenses. The new packages are now managed by a user that wanted to fix some bugs in the old package. He tried to contact the old package manager (tomekk228) via email with no success. I need somebody to help me and erase my package. I mistakenly shared my PKGBUILD file for ktorrent-3.3.3 because it wasn't available in the repos for some time, I thought people might want to use it. Turns out it was a mistake and besides ktorrent-3.3.3 is now available in the repos. I did all this because I thought that I can remove my package from AUR just by myself but I was wrong again :) I guess I'm new to this. Please remove the package. Hey guys, Coming Monday I'll get the key of my new apartment where I'll be living together with my girlfriend. That's all fine and such but before I can move our stuff I have to do quite a bit of work in the new apartment. This all means that I'll still be around and try to keep up with package releases (I'll make sure everything is up to date before Monday) during that period, but I won't be able to quickly respond to urgent matters or quickly fix bugs. I'll be checking my e-mail regularly though so I'll be able to ask for help if needed. Sometime I also have to arrange an internet connection there but I hope to have this arranged before I move. I'm not too sure how long this will take but I hope to be living there in ~1 month. Feel free to fix any of my packages during that period if you see necessary. Ronald

Hi all, Besides loving Arch, a few reasons made me leave it as my main distribution. I could surely adapt Arch to my new personal needs, due to its simplicity and flexibility, but due to lack of time and real life pressure, it would not be possible anytime soon. So I'm resigning as a Trusted User. I'd like to thank you all for giving me this outstanding opportunity and experience. Special thanks to hdoria, angvp, bardo, wonder, foutrelis, ornitorrincos, stefanhusmann, sergej, pierre and all you that helped me or worked with me on a package. I have a few packages at community. I hope you can adopt some of them. In special, I'd like to ask that if some TU uses OSS frequently, he adopts it, as this package may require some special care, being a driver package. Most of the users that ask help in the OSS IRC channel are Arch users, so we should have a good amount of OSS users. Regarding packages in unsupported, it would be nice if some TU could adopt virtualbox_bin. This package needs some care and it would be nice to merge bdheeman's dkms work (virtualbox-sun package) so the duplicates can be removed. Also it would be nice if someone could contact the VirtualBox developers (there is even an irc channel - #vbox) and offer to make this package official. I mean, they have a repository for debian-based and for redhat-based distributions, so maybe they could make an archlinux repository and offer directly there an official ready-to-install package if some help is offered to them. I will list below my community and unsupported packages to ease adoption. [community] - oss-related (oss, skype-oss) - djvu-related (djview4, pdf2djvu -> pstreams) - lua-related (luadoc, luafilesystem, luajit, lualogging) - netsurf-related (netsurf -> hubbub, libnsbmp, libnsgif, libparserutils) - latex-related (texmaker) [unsupported] - vbox-related (virtualbox_bin) - oss-related (xulrunner-oss) - electronics-related (alliance, chipmunksystem, logisim) - lua-related (iup, cd, im, gnuplot-luaterm) - ion3-related (ion-3, trayion) - djvu-related (gsdjvu) - irc-related (kvirc-svn, qirssi) - driver stuff (samsutools) - other stuff (chestnut-dialer, eresi-svn, python-mpmath, uspnet) By the number of votes, some of them can even go to community if some TU is interested. Packages virtualbox_bin-1, virtualbox_bin-2, virtualbox_bin-3_0 are legacy stuff requested by users to be left out. The netcfg-rt73 and qc-usb packages are legacy stuff that are probably useless nowadays, unless someone uses an old custom kernel. Best regards, Paulo Matias

Hi DEVs and TUs, I am about to move the first wave of KDE 4.4 RC3 packages into testing. These will be x86_64 at first; i686 packages might follow later this evening. There won't be any l10n packages. (they are not needed for testing and rebuild and we'll save disk space and bandwidth this way) The same Information about kde-unstable now apply to testing: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/DeveloperWiki:KDE#Users Note that the kde- unstable repository will be removed soon. If you update you have to use the following commands as pacman is not able to resolve the dependencies otherwise: % pacman -Sy --asdeps qt % pacman -Su All developers and TUs should check their Qt or KDE related packages. Even if they still work you might want to adjust the dependencies. There are some like phonon etc. which are no longer covered by Qt. In general you want at least depend on kdebase-runtime for most apps. (use namcap but don't trust it ;-)) Greetings, Pierre PS: I have problems with akonadi and mysql 5.1.43.
