The package 'rxvt' <http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=13618> has been out-of-date for a long time and has been flagged and commented as such, with no reply from the maintainer. I also emailed the maintainer to no avail. I'd like to request that that package and all of the maintainer's other packages <http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?K=xaw&SeB=m> that are out-of-date are orphaned so others may maintain them, as it appears they are AWOL.' I'll likely adopt at least some of them. Thanks!

Hi, I have some propositions for AUR packages. Here they are : - human-themes: should be orphaned. This package hasn't been updated since December 2008. Some users posted updated PKGBUILDs in comments but didn't got an answer. - lib32-bzip2: same as human-themes. Hasn't been updated since August 2008. - bin32-kega-fusion: should be removed. I submitted this package (x86_64 only) along with kega-fusion which is a 32-bit binary. However, as I found out how to make kega-fusion PKGBUILD multi-arch, so bin32-kega-fusion is no longer needed. - mamepgui: should be orphaned. The PKGBUILD has been submitted not long ago but has many defects. It is already outdated, is i686 only and doesn't rely on compilation from sources, though possible. I flagged the package and posted a improved PKGBUILD in comments one month ago but the maintainer didn't react. I'd like to adopt this package. Thanks in advance!

These packages are all called -git, but wrongly. [aur-general] The State Of XMonad

The Last XMonad upgrade a few moths ago had some problems , GHC (haskell compiler ) was released before XMonad was rebuild against the new compiler causing it to potentially break. Can't the XMonad pkgbuild be changed so it sticks with the GHC version it has been build against , that would cause less trouble. Also a new XMonad release , means much haskell-x11-* , xmonad-contrib , xmobar need to be rebuild and pulled together else ghc will complain. Related to my question about XMonad are some issue's (features) on the bugtracker, wich could be added to xmonad-contrib ( xmonad-contrib-darcs from AUR already has this extra dependency's). http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/16339 http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/14146 Still many thanks for having XMonad in community, if you need some help rebuilding packages mail me ;) Jelle van der Waa

Are the instructions on the DeveloperWiki's HOWTO Be A Packager page current? I wrote a script a while ago to handle updating packages but recently it stopped working. I also tried to add reflector but that didn't work either (yesterday). This isn't an ssh issue either as both ssh and svn connections work. I can post the error messages but I want to make sure that I"m following the right instructions before I waste someone's time. Thanks. Xyne

I've just checked the web archive for aur-general and saw that my message(s) about nexuiz-data when through yet I can't see them or the replies too them (in sylpheed, if that matters). This hasn't been an issue before. Please cc reples to me until the issue is resolved. As for nexuiz-data, I've rebuilt the package against the latest svn checkout and it still complains (just sent another message because I couldn't see my first message on the list). It's amazing how everything goes wrong when you have absolutely no time to deal with it.

Hi folks, I finally got the new package for netatalk working with Arch. The previous one has major build issues. Can someone orphan the existing package so I can maintain this? I'm having trouble getting nexuiz-data into the db. Errors found when adding packages I tried removing and re-adding the PKGBUILD, went through all of the steps again, double-checked that the correct PKGBUILD was committed, triple-checked the package's md5sum and rechecked the upload steps against both the wiki and my working scripts. I have even bumped the pkgrel and rebuilt the package on Sigurd (it's data only, all it does it download the source, move the files and repack them... no bandwidth was wasted either as it would still have been 600 MB as an upload from my machine). I've also tried removing nexuiz-data/repos/community-any several times from the svn (svn rm; svn commit) and then run 'archrelease "community-any"' again. I have no idea what to do now and would appreciate any insights. I've left the nexuiz src in my home dir on Sigurd for now in case it requires a rebuild (~/build/). The i686 and x86_64 package were both updated correctly so I really don't see what I'm doing wrong here. Thanks, Xyne

[aur-general] How to make a PKGBUILD for Kepler/Xavante?

Hi listmates, as I said in an earlier email in another thread, I always try to make a PKGBUILD for every piece of software I install. There's an exception though: the Lua webserver Xavante, which is part of the Kepler distribution (http://www.keplerproject.org/xavante/) I can set it up without Pacman that way: ftp://catwell.info/misc/arch/xavante/howto-setup.txt but I haven't found a way to make it work properly with makepkg. The problem is that the setup process run in a fakeroot leaves the string corresponding to $pkgdir in a lot of places in the resulting files, including binary files. I have tried to use sed on the resulting files but I didn't manage to get rid of it everywhere, neither to get a working package. Has somebody already given a try at packaging such an application, and are there examples of packages that deal with this kind of problem? Thanks, -- catwell
