Hi all. Could someone orphan xmlrpc on AUR? The package last update was nearly 2 years ago, and its maintainer seems to be inactive on AUR. I'd like to adopt this package to update it (to 1.06.30). It's with a lot of sadness that I say "bye!" to archlinux. My life is changing ( I will go to live in another city with some friends ), with only an Apple Powerbook (powerPC machine). The arch machine will remain at my sister ( I hope she learn about arch and its pkgs.. and will apply for TUship here :] ). Sorry, in this moment I can't find the right word. Hello, Could someone orphan dstat [1] on AUR ? The package last update was nearly 2 years ago, and its maintainer seems to be inactive on AUR since nearly one year. I'd like to adopt this package to update it (from 0.6.3 to 0.6.8) and fix its PKGBUILD (include man pages, fix the license tag, add an arch tag, etc.). Thanks. Try uploading again. Allan Thank you, he pointed that out now. The error concerning fotoxx goes somewhat deeper. I was not able to update it, I even got a similar message if I try a 'cvs remove fotoxx-5.3-1.pkg.tar.gz'. Sorry for all that. I added the sentences "Build files are files necessary to build the package, not the package itself. Do not add any *.pkg.tar.gz-files." to the Wiki, because this was the misleading part of the Wiki for me. Stefan

Hello all, As you may have noticed, my texlive-* pkgs have disappeared from community and brand new ones have replaced tetex in extra. Here are community packages that depend on tetex: gri prosper lilypond texvc auctex python-pyx yfklog Thanks for eventually fixing these! Also, I just added tetex to unsupported, and the web interface tells me that tetex is a dependency of the following pkgs (excluding the above): advi algorithmicx * arabtex * cjk-gbkfonts csindex dblatex eqe fig2ps foiltex fuzz gastex * hlatex klatexformula kletterwizard latex-beamer * latex-fitch lgrind athtex pdfjam pdfselect pidgin-latex svninfo * tex-cases * texlipse tex-unicode * vlna * wyneken xindy * NB: those with a star * are already provided by one of the texlive-* pkgs in extra, and IMO should be deleted. Question: should I move tetex to community? I would prefer not, since it is REALLY outdated, but some users may prefer using it rather than the bleeding-edge but quite larger combination texlive-core + texlive-bin. Best, F

Hello everyone, The xdotool package in [unstable] hasn't been updated to the latest version which was released about 3 months ago. I've tried contacting the current maintainer via email on Sep 04 to ask about the package's status and let him know that I wouldn't mind maintaining it in case he's not up to it (e.g. due to time constrains or loss of interest) but he hasn't respond yet. If it were to be orphaned, I'd be happy to adopt it. Thanks.

Hi, My name is Paulo Matias. I'm 19 years old, and I'm currently at the third year of a four-year Bachelor of Computational Physics course at University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. I'm a Linux user since 1998, when I started using Conectiva Linux. This was my main distribution until 2003, when I changed to Debian-based distributions. Then I switched to Gentoo at 2005. Finally, since about one year, Arch Linux has become my distribution of choice. I was very attracted by the lack of bureaucracy and by the warm and friendly community. I'm a programmer experienced in C, C++, Python, Ruby, JavaScript, AWK, PHP, Java and Fortran77 languages. I've learned something about Lua and Haskell, too. I have written some open source projects: trayion, samsutools, qvm, opensvs, pycyber, fastsight, ziprecv, gcbq, stegomaster, ruby-v4l, The Damn Small OS's VM, MPBot addons, BRNews and K-Lite Linux. I currently mantain some packages at AUR, notably the VirtualBox PUEL edition packages and Open Sound System (OSS) related packages, among others. My packages are listed at http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?SeB=m&K=thotypous. I often contribute to packages not maintained by me. I had recently contributed to the iverilog, vmware-player-modules and qc-usb packages. I was already experienced at packaging software for NetBSD, as a pkgsrc-wip project contributor. My packages at pkgsrc are listed at http://pkgsrc.se/bbmaint.php?maint=matias|a|dotbsd.org. I had packaged software there whose packages are currently maintained by others too, such as gnash and ghc. I recently started to develop some projects directly related to Arch Linux, namely arch-sheriff and pkgbuildtools. The arch-sheriff project is security-related and was recently presented at Arch mailing lists by our friend Hugo Doria. The pkgbuildtools project is currently being planned, and will provide some tools inspired by pkgsrc pkgtools and infrastructure. I'm an official member of the ArchLinux Brasil group, and have a blog (in Portuguese) at http://matias.archlinux-br.org and some stuff at http://matias.archlinux-br.org/files. Hugo Doria has offered to be my sponsor as a Trusted User. I hope to bring more useful packages to community and to help managing AUR. Currently, I sadly don't own any x86_64 capable machine.
