Hi, libcdk hasn't been updated for one and a half years. I e-mailed the maintainer almost two weeks ago and has not got any reply. If the package is disowned, I can fix it. I have the PKGBUILD ready. Thanks, Alexander Rødseth

[aur-general] Adopting Apache Commons packages

Hello TUs, I'd like to adopt commons-collections ( http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=1216 ) and commons-beanutils ( http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=1215 ), which are currently orphaned packages. However, I think it would be wise to rename them to java-commons-{digester,beanutils}, to bring them in line with the naming scheme already used by a few other Commons packages. Could you please delete the old packages, and I will upload new ones shortly? TIA Marc

[aur-general] Problem with root permission

I'm having trouble building PKGBUILD for mpi version of code-aster: during compilation process install script must run mpixec; because of fakeroot, mpiexec believes that is being runt by root and so looks for file /etc/mpd.conf, for its owner, that must be root, and for its permissions that must be 600; problem start when install script tries to open mpd.conf, because of permissions 600 it can't open it and so it closes with error. The only solution I found is to run makepkg as root (e.g. sudo makepkg --asroot). Do you think there are other solution for this problem? MPI implementation I use is mpich2. Thanks in advance. [aur-general] System cleaning?

You would think that I would have been using arch long enough to know how to do this buy I don't. I was using gnome then I tried to uninstall it and I used kdemod for a little while but know I want to use gnome again. I uninstalled kdemod and reinstalled gnome but it just doesn't seem as snappy as it was before. Plus I have easytag installed and when I click the home folder from the places menu it opened easytag. On top of that when I was connected to a remote FTP and I try to edit and save something I get a gvfs error. This use to work fine before. In the past I have usually just done a fresh install because I am weird about having only what I need installed and have never taken the time to learn all I can do with pacman. So my main question is can how do I do a major cleaning removing what I don't need and how do I check if I am missing something I do need since I am running into a few oddities. What is the best way to get my system clean and mean. Thanks for any insight. -- Brandon Martin

Hello, I found out that there are two packages kdbg, the kdbg (currently in community) and the kdemod3-kdbg [1] which is the same as the package in comunity, but it's not maintained and outdated. I suggest removing the kdemod3-kdbg package. [1] http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=18774
