[aur-general] libc++/libc++-abi status?

Hi, libc++/libc++-abi are flagged as out of date and are currently orphans in the community repository. Is there a TU that is interested in maintaining them, or some plan for adoption in place? I would be interested in maintaining them in the AUR if there is not current TU plan and they are dropped to the AUR. FWIW, attached is my PKGBUILD. Thanks! Chase

[aur-general] Cyclic makedependencies in pypy-setuptools and pypy3-setuptools

Hi, I would like to ask you for help with one messy issue with pypy-setuptools[1]. Python setuptools do not include its dependencies in vendor dir since version 34. It now requires the dependencies to be installed first in order to setuptools been installed. But the dependencies require setuptools to be installed to be able to install themself :) and thus cyclic makedependecies occur... This cyclic dependency is in package python-setuptools as well but because this package is in extra nobody cares, because nobody builds it by itself. Do you have any idea, how to solve this nicely? I have added this instructions to pypy-setuptools package, but it's not ideal though: 1. install setuptools manually via ensurepip: # sudo pypy -m ensurepip # sudo pypy3 -m ensurepip If you get error message "Ignoring ensurepip failure: pip 8.1.2 requires SSL/TLS", there is easy hack/fix: sudo curl -o /opt/pypy3/lib-python/3/ssl.py https://gist.githubusercontent.com/gumblex/b77e5d6fba8d01a41789beb6dc90adec… see https://www.reddit.com/r/learnpython/comments/5rblst/cant_use_pip_with_pypy… 2. install all setuptools dependencies (pypy-six, pypy-pyparsing, pypy-packaging, pypy-appdirs) You will have to edit the PKGBUILD and remove dependency on pypy-setuptools during this first install. 3. install pypy-setuptools with --force (because ensurepip installed files on same paths) Thanks Daniel [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/pypy-setuptools/

Hi, I am currently looking for building python2-intelhex[0] from AUR. Unfortunately the build failed, while I am using aursync[1] and require build into a clean (created for this build) chroot: $ aursync -c python2-intelhex [...] ==> Starting package_python-intelhex()... /startdir/PKGBUILD: line 17: python: command not found ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in package_python-intelhex(). Aborting... ==> ERROR: Build failed, check /var/lib/aurbuild/x86_64/user/build Note that with the python3 package version I come up with the same bug. Thus, I decide to have a look at the PKGBUILD and suggest some modifications I guess the maintainer will be glad to merge any proposal, but did the community see any thing more to change ? Basically I made use a lot more of its internal variable __pkgname, define python{,2}-setuptools as makedepends and add the license file to the package. In another way I don't really understand the rm on the bin directory? The problem I saw is that only installing python2-intelhex wont allow the use of the provided scripts[2]. However, I conducted small tests and they seems to works even with python2. So my guess is to create an other AUR PKGBUILD that will perform pretty the same things but only packaging the provided scripts, let call this package python-intelhex-scripts. Then, one need to enforce a dependencies of python{,2}-intelhex with python-intelhex-script at the same upstream release version. I propose some modification in the python-intelhex[3] PKGBUILD and a new PKGBUILD for python-intelhex-scripts[4]. What do you think ? Thanks in advance for your feedback! [aur-general] Permission Denied (publickey) Error for many

Dear all, Not sure if this is the correct place to report this. I originally opened this post - https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=222249 - with the hope of fixing the issue myself with the help of other users. However, it seems the same is experienced by other package maintainers as well. Since around 2pm today (UK time), I cannot authenticate to aur.archlinux.org over ssh. All requests are bounced with "Permission Denied (publickey)" response. I cannot pull, nor push from/to AUR. Just before I started to experience the problem, I was able to update one of my packages around 1pm. This, I think, means it is a server side issue of some sort. Can someone take a look? Thanks. Hi everyone, My name is Bruno Pagani (a.k.a. ArchangeGabriel, or just archange sometimes), long time Linux user and Arch user since January 2014. I have since fallen in love with pacman/PKGBUILDs, the community and the distribution in its whole more generally. I took maintainership of my first AUR package quite rapidly, and then gradually of more of them. I was recently thinking of becoming a TU in order to bring some of those packages to [community]; Bartłomiej Piotrowski encouraged me to do so and kindly accepted to sponsor my application. Regarding my implication in Arch, even if I’m not participating much in MLs, I’ve been them reading a lot and always try to follow best practices like using devtools to build (including in painful cases like very long AUR dependencies chain — thanks zorun for becoming a TU and bringing ring in [community] soon!). I’m also going to setup a Matrix[0] with IRC bridges on my server to participate in IRC (whether I’m accepted as a TU or not), something I’ve postponed for too long. Among the packages I maintain in AUR[1], most of them are -light/-minimal (meaning less dependencies/features) versions of repo’s one and thus not suitable for leaving AUR, but there are a few noteworthy others that I want to bring to [community]: – beignet[2]: Intel OSS OpenCL implementation for their iGPU, currently only supporting OpenCL 1.2 but work for OpenCL 2.0 is ongoing. – bs1770gain[3]: Loudness scanner/replaygain calculator, and — to my opinion at least — a good alternative as a beets[4] optdep for those who want to avoid pulling gst-* and their dependencies for this sole purpose. − ring-kde[5]: The KDE client for Ring. Leftover by Baptiste Jonglez (zorun) since he does not use it. Being a KDE user, I’m using this one rather than it’s Gnome counterpart. − thermald[6]: Thermal Daemon for Intel processors, doing thermal management using advanced processor states. – whipper[7]: secure CD ripper, successor of the defunct morituri. It has been very recently pushed to AUR by Freso, but he is OK with me maintaining it in [community] (and in fact would also like to become a TU at some point and help co-maintaining whipper). This would also require moving accuraterip-checksum[8] for which I am not the current maintainer either, but Shardz (the current one) agreed to transfer it to any TU wanting to maintain whipper. Outside of those, they are other packages I might want to maintain in the future but I felt those above would make a good start. I might just add uchardet[9], because it’s now needed for mpv[10], and I’m OK to maintain it if Christian Hesse (eworm) doesn’t want to. Just in case this could be of some interest for any of you, other packages interesting me in AUR are either KDE thumbnailers, ColorHug related software and HDF5/NetCDF stuff (+mpich). Which leads me to currently orphaned packages in [community] I can maintain: – python{,2}-mpi4py[11]: Not currently out-of-date, but since I rely on those packages for my work I would definitively take care of them if needed. And that brings me to add some more words about me: I’m a 24 years old french PhD student in astrophysics, doing mostly numerical simulations of supernovæ explosions on supercomputers (hence the interest in HDF5/NetCDF/MPI stuff). When it comes to Linux, it has been the first OS present at home, in the form of Mandrake in 1999 (the sysadmin was my father at this point in time). I’ve then handled the switch to Mandrake’s successor Mandriva myself, and later on moved to Ubuntu when I got my first personal computer. Then my second one was in the very first generation of Optimus[12] laptops, and in order to make use of my GPU this made me join The Bumblebee Project[13] (as “project manager” one could say, and yes we definitively need to update this thing). At this point I gained a lot of knowledge in Linux environments, and a lot of factors (including people here that might recognize themselves) pushed me to try ArchLinux, which I did… and I loved it. Today, my server is proudly running Arch Linux, my home media server too (Cubieboard, so that’s Arch Linux ARM), and I’ve recently converted my girlfriend and younger brothers to Arch. So thanks to all of you for your hard work in this distro! Finally, concerning my involvement in FLOSS projects outside of Arch and the aforementioned Bumblebee, I’m mostly opening bugs for ideas/feature requests (or actual bugs sometimes) in various BugZillas and the likes as well as around GitHub since I don’t know how to code in any useful language outside of Python (I use Fortran at work and have no time to learn other ones currently even if I would like to, like C and perhaps Rust too), but I love music and recently discovered beets[14], and will try to contribute code to this Python project soon. [aur-general] Package review bitcoin-classic

Hi, I created some AUR packages after various people requested it (I'm the upstream release manager) and since I'm rather new to packaging in Arch, I would love to have some feedback. Not sure if renaming is possible and if the bitcoind- one may be more easy to find under a different name. Any feedback welcome, and naturally I'd love it if those packages would be able to reach the community repo, but maybe they need a little more time to mature, I'm not sure. [aur-general] Not receiving own emails send to the list

Hi there, With my recent email address change followed by my email spree to this list (because of my TU application mostly), I’ve noticed I’m not receiving my own emails, despite “Receive your own posts to the list?” being set to “Yes”. I suppose this is linked to SPF/DKIM/DMARC and the fact mailman sometimes (based on original sender domains using those techs I guess) replaces the From address while putting the original sender in the CC field. Maybe when it does so it forgets to send also to this CC address, and doesn’t send through the ML because of the “Avoid duplicate copies of messages” being triggered by the CC field? Can anyone confirm this? I suppose any GMail user can for instance… Note, for this email, I’m trying “Avoid duplicate copies of messages” to “No” in order to check whether it changes anything, which I kind of expect given my current analysis of this issue, but that isn’t a proper solution since it will indeed results in duplicate copies. Hi, When I was looking at getting a recently release package: https://discordapp.com/download - Discord onto the AUR I have noticed that there has been a prior maintainer add a git repo shown online as https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/log/?h=discord seems to be showing up but no publically facing aur version. What would the correct procedure for utilizing this name, as optimally this would be the best name for this package. Regards, Cayde (cazzar)

Hey aur-general, I was registering for the AUR, and I managed to switch around two letters in my email address, so it was magejohnytjp(a)gmail.com instead of magejohnyjtp(a)gmail.com. Notice the letters tj in my initials, it should be jt. Is there anyone here who can help? I'd rather keep my normal username, instead of just re-registering with a new one. Thanks in advance, Yuri
