Kernel / utils-linux update breaks nvidia 390.xx driver dkms build - Any ideas what changed?

AUR folks, This is a general question that may catch others off guard. Having patch for the 6.8 changes when the kernel was release and having no issues through 6.8.9-Arch1, I was very surprised to see build failures in the nvidia-utils 390.xx package after the today's update. For both Linux and Linux-LTS: ( 8/13) Install DKMS modules ==> dkms install --no-depmod nvidia/390.157 -k 6.6.30-2-lts Error! Removal of NicoHood as Package Maintainer due to inactivity

Hi all, I'd like to start a "Special Removal of an Inactive Package Maintainer"[0] for NicoHood based on prolonged inactivity. NicoHood has not executed any packaging or AUR maintenance duties since 6 Months now, but the mentioned activity is IMO rather an outlier. When I contacted all people who were inactive in votings for a longer period of time[1] (August '23) we heard back[2] from Nico stating that he would still like to help out with Arch but does not have time/capacity due to personal circumstance right now. Since back then then not much seems to have changed: - His last voting[3] was vote nr. 140 (ended 2022-09-11), since then 11 other votings were done. - His packaging activity was limited to 3 days in the last year[4] - He did not do any AUR Moderation for that timeframe (to my knowledge) Therefore I'm requesting him to be removed as a Package Maintainer. This is not done because I want to cause any harm but rather since I think it reflects the status quo. If at some later point he has the time / resources to help out again I'm very much in favour of welcoming him back. The discussion period will last for three days, after which there will be a voting period of five days. Aarch64 package moderation policy

Hello! I recently learned that the AUR seems to have an actively enforced moderation policy preventing packages that either only work on aarch64, or are otherwise heavily focused/only useful on that platform. RFC0032 hasn't finalized yet, and of course it could still end up being rejected or otherwise put on indefinite hiatus... My outsider perspective is that it likely will happen though, so I'm working under that assumption. In this case, it's only a matter of time before non-x86 communities are accumulating around Arch upstream proper. RFC0032 already notes that: - Ideally, the AUR web interface / API is extended to allow filtering packages by architecture. I have a concrete proposal here. Let's say I (or someone else) were to contribute the necessary changes to aurweb, such that it exposed architecture info in the RPC (archlinux/aurweb#485), as well as adding support for filtering by architecture when searching. If this happened, and the search box on the AUR homepage defaulted to x86, would it be possible to relax the current moderation policy that restricts aarch64-only packages from living in the AUR? -Sam

Hi everyone, My name is Carl, or carsme on AUR/IRC, and this is my application to become a Package Maintainer. I started my Linux journey in 2016, while studying engineering mathematics at Chalmers University here in Gothenburg, Sweden. At the time, I was struggling with motivation and direction in my studies, but things took a positive turn when my friend group introduced me to Linux. I started out on Ubuntu but quickly transitioned to Arch Linux as there was a strong "btw, I use arch" atmosphere in our group :) With this new discovery, technology suddenly started making sense and became understandable. I had tinkered with computers since I was a child, but this was the first time I felt that anything was doable, given some time and dedication. As such, tinkering with my system became my new favorite pastime. Shortly after this formative moment, I got a part-time job as a developer, which eventually became full-time and made me drop out of university. This put me on a path which I'm very happy to be on, and which led me to today, where I'm leading a team developing route optimization solutions for commercial aviation. I still tinker a lot, but now with a broader scope that includes the processes, technologies and tools me and my team use in our daily work. Arch Linux has been my daily driver for around eight years now, and I have since 2021 tried to get more involved in the project, mainly by maintaining packages in the AUR. This has been a learning experience and I've tried to continuously improve my process and my packages. Examples include: fixing namcap warnings, migrating to standards based Python packaging (PEP 517), migrating to SPDX license identifiers, and most recently, using nvchecker to check for new versions. Outside of tech, I really enjoy traveling and try to do so as often as possible. Specifically, hiking through new landscapes and sampling local cuisine. Most recent trips were to the Bavarian Alps and to Sardinia in Italy, both of which were fantastic experiences (with great food!). As package maintainer, I intend to initially bring the following packages (+deps) into [extra], provided no one has any objections: * espanso * opentofu * powershell * protonmail-bridge * rdiff-backup * watchman Regarding (co-)maintenance of what's already in [extra], I'd like to adopt some of the currently orphaned Python and Ruby packages, for example: * python-joblib * python-oscrypto * ruby-treetop Additionally, I did a quick search for packages with only one maintainer among those I regularly use, and ended up with the following candidates for potential co-maintainership: * aerc * handlr * istio * python-black * sqlfluff Hopefully that gives a good picture of who I am and where I'd like to start my journey as a package maintainer, if accepted. attack on octopi and derived chain

Hi, It seem I am attacked by xiota on my AUR octopi packages. We had an exchange for over 3 hours before it ended abruptly. I think I am within my rights and ask you to look at the situation. Question about aur package existing in git, but not visible in aur

Hi, The package toggl-cli is not visible in https://aur.archlinux.org/packages?O=0&K=toggl-cli. But it still exists in ssh://aur.archlinux.org/toggl-cli.git The package has not been updated since 2016. commit dd7340e8804776df85fe1eb82a79384e7f1349fb (HEAD -> master, origin/master, origin/HEAD) Date: Mon Feb 22 06:00:17 2016 -0300 I was about to release a new package for this pkgbase ( https://github.com/watercooler-labs/toggl-cli) Can I request a deletion / reset of ssh://aur.archlinux.org/toggl-cli.git to use this pkgbase ?
