Hello all. I see that we have problem with "openoffice" in aur. I'm Linux experience user, a bit of a programmer, administrator, security administrator in company for last 20 years. But start my road with linux was about 1995r. Program Open Office/Apache Open Office I was using/repair a simple bug/sending ticket to bugzilla from about 15 years. In my company Libre Office had too many bugs, too often broken own files xls and he was too much unstable. Too many time we must spend for repair LO. [aur-general] TU applications, discussion periods and "no" votes.

Hi all, In at least one recent TU application, there was not a single criticism or negative remark during the discussion period and yet there was still a "no" vote in the result. A "no" vote is an objection and it is important to bring it up during the discussion period so that other TUs may take it into consideration when voting. It also gives the candidate the opportunity to address it, which itself can be very informative during the discussion period. I am not trying to call anyone out. It may well be the case that someone missed the discussion period or misclicked while voting, or has a personal objection or a blood vendetta against the candidate's family spanning back 5 generations that they are not allowed to talk about. I absolutely do not want to know who voted "no" or why. I just want to encourage everyone to participate in the discussion period when they have something to add. Regards, Xyne

Hi, I'm new to this mailing list and don't know if I'm submitting the question to the right one. Please forgive me if I'm doing something wrong. I tried to submit new AUR package for the HTTP load testing tool called hey written in golang and it got failed to "git push" because of the origin repository is not empty. It seems like there is already a repository with past work and I can't submit new package because of that reason. When I try to navigate to the package page I can't find the package. Hello everyone, My name is Remi Gacogne, and I hereby apply to join the Trusted Users team, kindly sponsored by Levente Polyak and Morten Linderud. I'm 37 years old and live in Paris, France. My journey with Linux started around 1999 with Mandrake, quickly replaced by Slackware which has been my favourite distribution until I fell in love with Arch, around 2009. Since then I have been involved in several aspects of the life of the Arch community like the wiki and the bug tracker [1], but my main contributions have been to the security team, often bugging you folks with security issues in your packages :) You can find me on Freenode and OFTC under the nick of rgacogne. I have contributed to many FOSS projects over the years, mainly by writing and fixing C, C++ and Python code, hopefully not introducing too many bugs in the process. Some of them can be found on my GitHub profile [2]. I have held positions as a sysadmin, security engineer and software engineer in the past, and am currently working for the PowerDNS [3] open-source company as a software engineer. In my spare time I enjoy climbing, hiking, paragliding and trail running, as well as drinking beers. I'm also involved in a few non-profit organisations, far away from computers. I am currently maintaining a few packages in the AUR [4], although most of the popular ones I used to maintain having been moved to community by existing TUs along the way, with my blessing and gratitude. As a TU I would like to move two of the remaining ones to community: - bgpq3 - dnsdist My main motivation for becoming a TU is however not to move those, but to relieve the workload of other TUs by helping maintain and/or adopting existing community packages. For obvious reasons I have already discussed adopting the powerdns and powerdns-recursor packages from anthraxx, but I would also be interested in adopting some orphans here and there, like for example hiredis, libopenraw and nsd. I should also mention that being a TU would be very useful to my work on the security team, since I would then be able to help fix critically vulnerable packages. [aur-general] Proposing knot-resolver for community repo

Hi, I'd like to ask if you'd consider adopting knot-resolver from AUR [1] into the community repo. The main reason is that the Knot DNS dependency is in the community repository and a soname bump requires a rebuild of Knot Resolver. This happens about twice a year. As you can see from the AUR comments, the users are often confused if they don't do the rebuild and Knot Resolver breaks. Any further debugging is probably quite complicated, since if they use the software as their system resolver, it effectively breaks the DNS resolution, thus preventing access to internet. The knot-resolver package should be quite low maintenance. We (upstream) use sysusers & tmpfiles, ship ready-to-use systemd units and the build time is less than a minute on my laptop. We also have our own upstream PKGBUILD we keep up-to-date [2], so a simple diff of this file against PKGBUILD should be sufficient for any significant changes. It'd be great if any TU (preferably Knot DNS maintainer) could maintain this package in the community repo. Thank you for the consideration! Yo, I would like to start the discussion period for a Trusted User removal of Evgeniy Alekseev, also known as 'arcanis' on the grounds of 'Special Removal of an Inactive TU' [1]. Evgeniy's last action on archweb was '2019-12-25 20:41', and the last vote they participated in was the removal of shiv 13 montsh ago. I have also attempted sending them an email two times the past 5 months, along with Alad having sent them an email. There has been no replies. The voting procedure will commence after seven days of discussion period, in which Evgeniy can state his case.
