Hi guys. upstream release: udev 165 ======== Bugfixes. The udev database has changed, After installation of a new udev version, 'udevadm info --convert-db' should be called, to let the new udev/libudev version read the already stored data. udevadm now supports quoting of property values, and prefixing of key names: $ udevadm info --export --export-prefix=MY_ --query=property -n sda MY_MAJOR='259' MY_MINOR='0' MY_DEVNAME='/dev/sda' MY_DEVTYPE='disk' ... libudev now supports: udev_device_get_is_initialized() udev_enumerate_add_match_is_initialized() to be able to skip devices the kernel has created , but udev has not already handled. libudev now supports: udev_device_get_usec_since_initialized() to retrieve the "age" of a udev device record. GUdev supports a more generic GUdevEnumerator class, udev TAG handling, device initialization and timestamp now. [arch-general] Linux / mkinitcpio / vbox bug: bad swap file entry

while testing new images, I get this: http://users.edpnet.be/dieter/vbox-or-kernel-or-mkinitcpio-bug.png the error messages show up in google results and seem to be bugs in the Linux swap code and/or drivers. interestingly, at first aif/dialog/mkinitcpio/find just keep running, but after a while the processes just vanish. dmesg doesn't say anything about OOM killer, but i get login prompts where i used to have a terminal with aif/initcpio running. dmesg here: http://sprunge.us/YWQS any advice? i can probably workaround it by using more ram, but still... I want to change the resulting package name in the PKGBUILD so I can support different sites on a server hosting many virtual websites using joomla. [arch-general] Where is $MAIL set?

I'm using fetchmail and postfix to get mails into the spool. I changed location of spool in main.cf and login.defs but $MAIL still contains the value of /var/spool/mail/nilesh. I changed the spool directory in the configuration to /home/MAIL/. HI, When I try to install anything via yaourt i get this error "xz: error while loading shared libraries: liblzma.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory". I have a fully updated system. Thanks.

[arch-general] How to get colorized output during prog compilation? ( Colorgcc doesn't color gcc output )

Hi all. Like posted in this topic( https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=110301 ), my problem doesn't seem to be solved. Color gcc is not called by gcc and thus not colorizing the output of gcc. The funny thing is that if i call "colorgcc" directly when compiling some code, I get colorized output. It may sound stupid but this script helped quite a lot to point out warnings and to see immediatly where I went wrong. It's really a big help. Hasn't anyone else had this problem? Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem? gcc: gcc (GCC) 4.5.2 colorgcc: colorgcc 1.3.2-6 Thanks in advance, Francesco

Hi everyone. I posted this problem on the forums but it seems the regular forum users don't know what the problem is so I'm asking here. [arch-general] New script to backup source code from abs

I been looking for a way to backup source for sometime. Like a dvd iso disc. I started to look for away to do this after seeing 2012. It got me thinking of how to rebuild a compete archlinux system. This would also help us with are world domination plans. Joking aside, here is the script below: http://arch-live.isawsome.net/devel/backup-src.sh My script uncompresses the source code archives and re-compress them has $pkgname-$pkgver-$pkgrel.src.tar.lzma. I put the newer files in $SRCDEST/$repo folder. This makes it easier to find. It example below backups up all sources of extra repo in /var/abs/extra folder. ./backup-src.sh extra example below backups just abs source folder in /var/abs/extra. Including the abs archive uncompressed in abs/src folder. ./backup-src.sh extra abs I have seen some good compressing improvement when everything is re-compressed as .tar.lzma. For example chromium: chromium original archive is 130mb chromium re-compressed with .tar.lzma is 101.1mb You can extra the newer archives and build with 'makepkg -e'. I hope this helps.

Hello everyone! I set up a repository based on a modified version of ArchAudio, with some of my stuff and lots of PKGBUILDs from AUR's contributors. Hope this helps to update and maintain ArchAudio alive and updated. Just source for now, no binaries. It is a hg repo, so it can also be hosted inBitBucket and Google Code, and can be easily forked, hacked and pushed back. The contribution work can be much easier this way, I think. The initial idea is not _necessarily_ to replace ArchAudio repo binaries, but set up a pool for development of the most updated and new in terms of professional audio packages for ArchLinux. https://bitbucket.org/smoge/archstudio Happy New Year!
