Friendly reminder that given most of the ongoing attacks are based on node packages you can always add the package managers to your pacman.conf's IgnorePkg as a second line of defense (assuming you don't use them). IgnorePkg = yarn bun pnpm npm nodejs-nopt node-gyp And remember to check your PKGBUILDs! :) Fermín Olaiz. PS: sent this to arch-general as I think it might be useful.

Questions about archived packages and arch linux malware

Hello, what is the process in deciding in archiving a package? And what are the reasons? And are there any channels where I can get notified if a package is getting archived? I noticed that the package `vim-airline` and `vim-airline-themes` got archived - I think just recently. Can someone tell me, why that happened? Do packages get archived, because they got malicious? Can't boot anymore

Hi. After a long sequence of troubles for booting (don't want to be boring with it), I did the following : 1) I boot with my installation DVD 2) I mount my arch partition nvme0n1p4 on /mnt 3) arch-chroot /mnt 4) I deleted my old efi partition nvme0n1p2 5) I created a new one on nvme0n1p5 6) I created directory /boot and mounted /dev/nvme0n1p5 on it 7) grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot --bootloader-id=GRUB 8) I made some modifications in /etc/default/grub 9) grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg Now I get two entries in /boot/grub/grub.cfg : one for arch and a second for "UEFI Firmware Settings". But when booting, no output of grub menu ; I arrive directly in the bios (or firmware). How can I progress ? I attached four files : /etc/fstab /etc/defaul/grub /boot/grub/grub.cfg the output of "ls /boot" in boot.txt. Hope someone can help :-) I'm sending this from my laptop. regards. -- Philippe

Hi. I often use pdftotext and search it but I can't find it nor with pacman neither on AUR. pacman proposes python-pdftotext 2.2.2-11. Tanks for advice. Regards. -- Philippe

Hi All, I had a similar issue booting into a new built and turns out that the motherboard came with a key installed and once cleared the secure boot keys and changed the OS type I was able to boot from the flash drive. I tried with only disabling and setting the OS type to other and that didn't work. Motherboard is Asus Rog Strix X570-e. I just wanted to share in case this help. Hi. In mariadb, the command select * from tablename into outfile '/tmp/foo.txt' produces no file in /tmp but in a directory with a very long name: /tmp/systemd-private-2a2439b12a22406fb9e6d8345f292014-mariadb.service-5Dg5Mh/ In this directory, I get tmp/foo.txt I guess I have something to write in /etc/my.cnf.d/ but which lines and in which file ? Unable to boot

Hi all. In another place, on a different computer, my thumbdrive with archlinux-2026.04.01-x86_64.iso boots with no problem. Now, on the computer I'm using currently, the usbkey refuses to boot. I checked the bios ; boot order is correct and secure boot is disabled. The drive with my usual distro can boot. I need help because I would like to install arch on this machine. Hi. I am installing arch-linux ; I was using debian and then slackware for many years. I'd like to have almost ten ttys ; with sysvinit, I modified /etc/inttab... But with systemd I don't know what to do and where. Moreover, I would like to modify permanently the size of the screen with stty but where to do that ?
