[arch-general] Firefox can't use CUPS Printer

Hello, I have a CUPS printer (HP) enabled and all good. My firefox is not from repo. I am using a localized version of firefox downloaded from firefox website. Right now I can print to a pdf and from that PDF I can print the text. Can I locate the printer in Firefox in any way? I'm on Arch KDE and I am using hplip if that's of any help. Thanks SRD

Hello, I am sorry to write here about this about I would like to register on https://bbs.archlinux.org to have access to the Arch forum. The problem is that I am unable to install Arch but the registration page is asking me the result of an Arch command that I cannot run because I cannot install it in the first place. So I cannot register and I don't know who to contact to help me. Is someone here can help me with this situation? Thank you.

Getting rid of the partition has nothing to do with GRUB or any other boot loader at all. It's better first to get some information and after that to send a request to the mailing list by mentioning that you read something, but it's still unclear to you.

Hello, So I have arch installed on a 50GB space, I also have 400 GB as a windows partition, I want to know is there a way for me to delete that windows drives and attach them with either / or /home so that I can use them from Linux without reinstalling? Thanks N

With all programs above I can scan - right. I can also make an PDF of the scan. With gscan2pdf I can scan many pages at once (fledbed scanner or ADF) and convert all pages directly to PDF. In addition, OCR is performed. And a pdf is generated with the text from OCR as hocr layer. The special feature is that a searchable PDF can be created at once. As far as I know it is not possible with simple-scan nor with scanlite nor with gambas3-gb-scanner. The special thing is that I can correct then OCR Text directly before I save the file. And a few other things that simplify the work. It is not just another scan program. It is the only program I know what allows archiving in this way. best regards Stephan

Is there a way to get such color scheme files to choose from? Also, is there some specification of what each of the 20 colors specified per active/disabled/inactive ones is supposed to mean? The inactive and active ones are pretty similar, except for the 13th color, not sure if some more should change. The disabled one is of course more different, :) I'm not looking for the inactive colors to be similar to the disabled ones, just a bit more of contrast than what I see, which is no difference on tabs or even buttons... Hello! I would like to ask if the program gscan2pdf could be included in the official arch repositories. In particular also for all necessary perl dependencies to work For me and many other people it is a very important office program. (179 votes) With it we can scan all letters and documents easily for archiving with gscan2pdf. In the AUR, there have been some problems since the packages are outdated. And since I regard as important, I want to ask if it is feasibl to included gscan2pdf in the official repositories. There are currently no alternatives. best regards Stephan Fuchs

[arch-general] tmux/systemd: tmux user service exits on detach/logout

Hey all, I got a very strange behavior with tmux and systemd on my server and maybe someone knows a way around it. The way I start tmux is as follows: Setting TMUX_TMPDIR to my user's XDG_RUNTIME_DIR and starting tmux in a systemd user service [1]. I do the same for other things, such as weechat [2]. They both use the same tmux.conf [3]. Lingering is activated for my user, so the enabled user services will start with the system and stay running, even when it's disconnected... in theory (and this used to work very well, without a problem for years). With some changes in systemd however, this seems to fail now, and I can't seem to find the reason why. Tmux just exits with "server lost" once I do a detach. At first I could only observe this behavior when I had a shared ssh session to the server (so I thought), that I then quit, or when I attached and detached the tmux session quickly. Now I'm getting this nearly every time I detach from the tmux session! I tried several things by now, and it doesn't seem to make any difference: - using legacy cgroups [4], because of maybe being affected by this [5] - switching to single connections instead of shared connections for ssh (lowered the amount of random tmux quits!) - using hardened kernel (just to try another one) - logging a tmux session, without getting any output, that would explain, why this happens - crossing fingers (actually helps, because the bug seems completely random ;/ ) - using a system scope unit (tmux@username) [6], getting the same results - downgrading tmux to >=2.3 (no difference) - downgrading systemd to <=233-7 (seems to happen less frequently) For some awkward reason, it seems to have worked again for a short time, when Arch first switched to systemd 233 a few days back [6], but ever since it moved to systemd-stable [7], the problem is back (and even worse than before). Me thinking that might only be due to a "less frequent occurence" though. I'm just wondering, how to solve this. Maybe someone has a great idea to share? It's getting beyond annoying by now and I can't seem to find out, if it's tmux, systemd or some kernel problem... or all of them together. David P.S.: Doesn't seem to happen with screen.
