Guys, My project to develop PKGBUILDs for Trinity on Arch has made good progress, but I have hit a couple of snags where I could really use an experienced mentor who is good with complex package builds on Arch. [arch-general] makechrootpkg - not using cmake environment from PKGBUILD - help?

Guys, I am having 2 difficulties building in my archroot environment. I have created the archroot in /home/david/chbld/root. I have managed to build trinity-qt3, trinity-pyqt3 and trinity-tqtinterface in the archroot, but now when I start building packages that rely on the installed package environment, I am encountering errors: (1) The pkgbuilds use exports to set the cmake environment. eg.: export CMAKE_PREFIX_PATH=/opt/qt export CMAKE_INCLUDE_PATH=/opt/qt/include:/opt/qt/include/tqt this works fine in the virtualbox clean environment, but fails in the mkarchroot. Hi all, I'm having problems with the awn notification daemon recently. It was working fine up untill recently. I have managed to get it working again by downgrading all of the recent gstreamer update, but wont be able to look into it any further until later on today. The only other thing I have tried is to just downgrade gstreamer-python on it's own I'm not sure if this is a problem unique to me, an Arch problem, or an upstream one, but any ideas/pointers are appreciated Running x86_64 with an otherwise up to date system, gnome desktop & compiz. [arch-general] Howto properly set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /opt/trinity/lib from PKGBUILD (postbuild)

Guys, After building trinity-kdelibs, I need to create an entry and set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /opt/trinity/lib. I manually created: '/etc/ld.so.conf.d/trinity.conf' containing "/opt/trinity/lib" and then ran ldconfig. That worked. What I need to know is how to properly do this from the kdelibs PKBUILD. I can do it by creating the file in $pkgdir, but is there a standard way to do it? Also, what about calling ldconfig after install? Is there a standard (post-install) snippet to add? Guys, I have setup Arch in virtualbox to provide a clean environment for the trinity build. Xorg+fluxbox for the environment. One problem I'm having is copy/paste between the host and guest does not work. I have the LinuxAdditions installed and shared folders (mounted uid,gid), X, flux, and copy/paste within the guest works fine, but I can't get it to copy/paste from host-to-guest or guest-to-host. xorg.conf is: 22:18 alchemy:~> cat cnf/vbox/linux-guest/xorg.conf # VirtualBox generated configuration file # based on /etc/X11/xorg.conf. [arch-general] ArchBang and other derivates resemblance to Arch

On the forums, we see an increasing number of threads about ArchBang. Understandably so, since not only does it carry "Arch" in the name, it also uses the same styling [1], and supposedly users are told there to use the Arch wiki and forum for support. People are asking if ArchBang is an official Arch project [2], which it obviously isn't. ArchBang is more a one-click or no-config install which goes against the Arch philosophy. Also our Forum Etiquette states that community support is _only_ given for installations done from official Arch installation media [3]. While ArchBang (and probably some other spin-off distros) are very similar and sometimes almost identical to Arch, they are _not_ Arch and in my opinion this should be made more clear to avoid any damage to the Arch project as a whole. What are your thoughts about this? I'm hoping to get an official reaction from our dev-team, so we can avoid some of the confusion that is present now. Guys, After getting kdelibs done, I have run into a wall with the building kdebase: http://websvn.kde.org/branches/trinity/kdebase/ (see bottom of page for admin and cmake links) There are 2 issues I'm having on Arch: (1) If kde4/Qt4 is installed, cmake fails when it uses /usr/include/QtCore/qfile.h instead of /opt/qt/include/qfile.h. I cannot figure out how to tell cmake to ignore the /usr/include.
