Due to Sun's downloading silliness - I think the source should be stored on our ftp, otherwise it gets downloaded with the huge filename. If you are interested in maintaining some packages - just adopt them. It won't be a problem for me to update those that will be left, if new versions of them are not released frequently, so don't feel it as your duty to grab all of them. [aur-general] namcap reports

Hi all, I've created a web based report [1] from running namcap on the [community] tree. The design is inspired by lintian reports [2] (I am not much of a designer anyway :) ) There's a script which makes the namcap.log by traversing the community tree, then another python script cooks it up into HTML. Since namcap is quite verbose, I created some tags corresponding to the namcap warnings/errors (like: bad-backups => Backup entries should not have preceeding slashes). The packages have been listed by the namcap tag. Right now there's no view of what tags a particular package has, but I plan to add it sometime in the future. There's also an RSS feed for each tag. [aur-general] Anyone want ot adopt VirtualBox?

Hi DEVs/TUs, I don't using virtualbox since months and now who my desktop is dead I can't build it on my laptop @1.7Ghz. It spend more time. Then I want to know if someone of you want to adopt virtualbox packages. Hey guys, I just got the email below and want to take this opportunity to point a few things out: Licenses are important. If a project has no license that DOES NOT mean you are able to redistribute it by adding a file that says "Free to use". Just because it is in the AUR doesn't mean we are in the clear. That said, I believe this email is a little silly for three reasons: a) Nothing there is stolen. It is a PKGBUILD. If it is illegal to redistribute the source, then the end user is liable (something we DON'T want). b) The original tarball no longer exists. c) I have seen no proof of copyright. Hi The official PKGBUILDs in core, extra, community often don't contain "arch" variable. Of course they can't be build with simple makepkg (missing arch error). I have read Arch Packaging Standards and find no mention about a situation where omiting "arch" variable is legal. Am I missing something or these official PKGBUILDS just broken? [aur-general] Reffering to a Package Version in PKGBUILD

I've got a problem with xine-lib crying for ffmpeg>=20080715. I have ffmpeg-svn installed and this fullfilled the requirement. But even if I write something like presents=('ffmpeg' 'ffmpeg>=20081031') into my PKGBUILD the error occure again and again. A dynamic Date as mentioned in the comments of ffmpeg-svn (something like date +%Y%m%d would be nice). Thank you Raubkopierer

[aur-general] Disown Merkaartor package

Hello, the merkaartor package in AUR is outdated. The maintainer pfreire doesn't respond to the Out-Of-Date flag, comment and e-mail. Many of his other packages are also out of date. Could you please disown the package? I would like to maintain it in the future. Michael
