[aur-general] Question file conflict on a new package I took over

I just recently took over a package[1], and some people are having troubles updating due to file system conflict. error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files) uuid: /usr/lib/libuuid.a exists in filesystem uuid: /usr/lib/libuuid.so exists in filesystem uuid: /usr/lib/pkgconfig/uuid.pc exists in filesystem uuid: /usr/share/man/man3/uuid.3.gz exists in filesystem Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded. What is the actual proper way to handle a conflict like this? As a temp workaround I found that if I removed the package and then deleted those files left behind I can get it to install and all seems kosher after. But that is a ugly workaround. Would the correct way be to use a .install file and then a pre_install hook to get rid of them? Thanks a bunch for any help or tips here. [1]uuid <https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/uuid/>

Hello, please merge https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/vala-devel/ into https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/vala-018/ There is no "unstable" or "devel" package upstream for vala, so vala-018 might be the better name. There are other valas following the same naming scheme. Please delete https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/emacs-gnuplot-mode-cvs/ The emacs mode is part of the most gnuplot packages. Please delete https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/gnuplot-git/ Uploaded accidentely. Please orphan https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/oleo-motif/ and https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/oleo/ The download-url for the patches is no longer available as stated in the comments. [aur-general] Building polly-b-gone

I'm the maintainer of the polly-b-gone [1] package. Recently I made some changes, and also a comment arrived by demonicmaniac. I'm not much of a gcc and linker guru, so please comment on my hack to symlink libGLEW.so and on demonicmaniac's comment about adding -lGLU to LDFLAGS in the makefile. I searched google about -lGLU and understand that it would be needed for OpenGL usage. But the game builds and runs fine here without that flag, so why should I patch the makefile?
