Dear all, I did not take care until now of all my .pacnew files ! Hopfully, my system doesn't seems broken, and I am now merging all these files. I of course read the WIKI, and decided to use sdiff, as I do not feel comfortable with VI for now. Unfortunately, I found some very fancy results when using : *sdiff -sa -o etcfilenew etcfile etcfile.pacnew* (I use etcfilenew to check before I replace). I don't know why, but this command didn't return many times the wanted result: list all uncommon lines. I know there are some scripts around, but I am not a big fan of using scripts I do not understand. So for now I deal with the classic diif. Is there a simple command line I can use, appart sdiff and Vimdiff?? TY for your help.

[arch-general] nfs problems

Hello! When I installed 3.4.2, I had boot and shutdown problems in two computers (another six went fine), so I downgraded them to back to 3.3.8. I have just upgraded to 3.4.3, and it failed again. Commenting out nfs-common and nfs-server made them work again. Now the systems work fine, but I would like to have my nfs servers back (nfs client still works). :-) I have only found this: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=143419 describing the exact symptoms, but no solution yet. [arch-general] Help with gnupg saving password for given time

Hello all, I'm running KmyMoney and saving the file with GPG encryption. In order to open this file I need to enter my password in the pin entry window that comes up. This all works fine. The issue that I'm having is that in the past (previous installation of Arch and Aptosid) I was able to close KmyMoney and open it back up within a certain amount of time without having to re-enter the password. After this time expired, I had to re-enter the password. This no longer seems to work for me. I have to enter my password every time I open KmyMoney. According to my notes that I have on this, what I need to do is to create a file in .gnupg called gpg-agent.conf with the following entries: pinentry-program /usr/bin/pinentry no-grab default-cache-ttl 3600 And enter "use-agent" in the file .gnupg/gpg.conf. I'm using Openbox as my windows manager in case it matters. Could someone offer any suggestions on why this no longer works? My guess is that I'm missing something. Thanks, Randy

Dear list, I am fine tuning my Arch box, trying to understand and configuring step by step. I just realised I didn't take care of all the file.pacnew in /etc, and I am now taking each one. Now dealing with *locale.gen.pacnew *I am not sure to fully understand the locale set up. My box is in English, but I am living in Switzerland, write and read english and french, and uses a QWERTZU keyborad configured via keyborad layout in XFCE settings. *[gabx@magnolia etc]$ locale -a C en_US en_US.iso88591 en_US.utf8 POSIX* It seems to me some lignes about French and euro are missing. Am I right? Looking at the list etc/locale.pacnew, I was thinking adding these locales : #fr_CH.UTF-8 UTF-8 #fr_CH ISO-8859-1 #fr_FR.UTF-8 UTF-8 #fr_FR ISO-8859-1 #fr_FR@euro ISO-8859-15 Am I right to add all these locales? I understand I must run *$logal-gen* to add these modifications. What should I do with the locale.gen.pacnew ?? How can I update my system correctly? I see that all locales are going to */usr/share/i18n/locales*, and I guess locale.gen.pacnew will modify this list, but I have no idea how to do that. TY for help.

[arch-general] glib: #error "Only <glib.h> can be included directly." (howto report packages)

Guys, We have run into several new build failures with trinity related to a glib header inclusion change in the last update or two. The trinity package are a relatively simple fix changing the header inclusions from '#include <glib/whatever.h>' to '#include <glib.h>'. However, some of the build failures experienced are not trinity build failures, but do to other OS packages. Example, koffice fails with: In file included from /usr/include/wv2/olestream.h:26:0, from graphicshandler.cpp:23: /usr/include/glib-2.0/glib/giochannel.h:28:2: error: #error "Only <glib.h> can be included directly." My question is this "When I run across these, do you want me to open a bug, just drop a note to the maintainer, or drop a note to the list?" Fixes are easy enough, but before I start rebuilding everything from ABS, I want to make sure this info gets to the right place. What say the devs? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

[arch-general] Chromium's Langauge settings dialog not opening

Hi, I'm having weird issue wiht Chromium on the current Arch. Regardless of WM used, Openbox or i3, I can observe it. 0. Fresh Chromium configuration (~/.config/chromium wiped out) 1. Load page with textarea, e.g. gist.github.com, pastebin.com 2. Right-click on textarea -> select Spell-checker Options -> Language Settings 3. No dialog opens Now, tick off "Check the spelling of this field" in right-click context menu -> Spell-checker Options Then: 1. Load page with textarea, e.g. gist.github.com, pastebin.com 2.
