[arch-general] Building in docker?

For various reasons I'm looking into not using `makechrootpkg` when building the 200+ packages I put into a non-official repo. Obviously it's important to keep the building environment separate from my ordinary system environment. Going to full virtualisation is definitely overkill and the only containers I know of are chroots and docker. Docker has some nice attributes, in particular no need for root access. [arch-general] Smartcard troubles on Arch

Dear Archers, I am trying to get my Gemalto USB Shell Token V2 (GPG-Smartcard-Reader in a USB-Stick) to work on Arch. I've set up Udev in the way I did successfully in Ubuntu 12.04.LTS. However, no success. I am still trying to figure out where the trouble lies. I can never see the card using gpg --card-status But sometimes I see its fields when using pcscs_scan. Possible culprits: pcscd, which sometimes gives errors, gpg's USB support? Has anyone had success in setting up this reader or similar smartcard readers? Or had similar troubles? I would love to hear from you. Best, Mathias

Can this patch https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=33142 be applied to Arch's xorg? It solves famous problem https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=865 with broken keyboard input for users who use multiple keyboard layouts without any noticeable side-effects. [arch-general] Arch linux doesn't recognises micro SD card

Hi, I'm running Arch linux on my laptop. The laptop has Multi-in-1 card reader. I just bought a micro SD card with an adapter so I can it plug in into this card reader. But the Arch linux system doesn't recognise it so I can't use it. I tried with Gparted too without any success: I get Gparted error: Output/Input error during read on /dev/mmcblk0 whyle on the virtual console I get error messages: mmcblk0: error -84 transferring data, sector 7, nr 1, cmd response 0x900, card status 0x0 Buffer I/O error on dev mmcblk0, logical block 0, async page read However, this same micro SD card has been recognised on MS Windows system. What can I do to solve this problem on my Arch linux system? -- Regards from Pal

Hi all, Version 2.0.0 of the LightDM GTK greeter was released about week ago. This release drops GTK2 support. Therefore I propose to rename the current "lightdm-gtk3-greeter" into "lightdm-gtk-greeter" and drop the legacy "lightdm-gtk2-greeter" to AUR. I could keep "lightdm-gtk2-greeter" around for a while in [community] if some people want me to (I'm thinking people using MATE for example, but it's going towards GTK3 anyway), but keep in mind that you can use LXDM instead if you really need a GTK2 display manager. If there aren't any objections by the end of the week, I'll proceed with my proposal. Cheers, -- Maxime
