[arch-general] who would help me to compile Dbus-x11 for ARM64 Bit platform

Because Dbus-x11 is currently not available for ARM64 Bit platform, I would like to kindly ask you for direct link which should I use to download dbus-x11 source code which will work for newest stable Arch Linux. I will use AUR repository and list of dependencies so I will try to compile dbus-x11 for ARM64 myself. I only need to know The git clone path to grab The right source code. Any advice will be very welcomed. I have allready scompiled several apps successfully. I have used dependencies list from AUR WEB interface and I could create ARM64 Bit code on my device.

[arch-general] Dbus and archlinux chroot question

Dear specialists, Ihave tried to use Arch Linux on Android device thanks to Proot, Termux and thanks to The Arch Linux script by Mr Rausty, which is available on Github. Unfortunately, I have found out, that there is very complex problem with Dbus. Many apps, which require inter process communication work only, when I type. dbus-launch app name But even when I start Dbus and some app by this way, some more complex applications not work. There are more rreasons. Firstly in strictly userspace oriented Linux environment, Arch Linux do not support to run services. So Dbus can not be started as A service. Is there some technique, which can allow me to use Dbus by more efficiently? Or in such non ssstandard environment, there is no way how to setup The system so Dbus would be used more efficiently. What can I allready use? Orca screen reader and many GTK apps including Gradio. But again, some apps start dbus-launch with some command line option and system refuses to start Dbus so app can not commit the changes to Gconf database for example. [community]/python-tqdm has updated 13 times in the last week, though the upstream has not been releasing that rapidly - the new Arch packages correspond to the last few months of releases. This process hasn't quite gotten it up to date yet, so I expect one more update is on the way! Is there a reason for not just skipping right to the latest version, if several intermediate versions were missed? If this is for testing (incremental updates are usually easier to test), presumably it should occur in [testing]. Or perhaps this is the behaviour of some automated tooling that is detecting when a package is out of date, and a human hasn't noticed? This isn't important, I'm just curious. -Chris

[arch-general] btrfs kernel incompatibility?

I have a btrfs raid1 on raspbian (kernel 4.19.75) which overheated. To fix the btrfs filesystem I attached the raid1 to my workstation with Arch Linux (kernel 5.5.1). I run scrub to identify broken files and fixed them. Furthermore I run --full-balance and defrag -r. All fine so far. Now I can't mount the btrfs on raspbian any more (bad superblock). I checked with a blank raspbian and different boards, same result. On my Arch Linux workstation there are no problems. The btrfs changelog [1] only mentions more checksums (xxhash, sha256...) as possible incompatible features between 4.19 and 5.5. However the raid1 is still crc32c (see below). I'm afraid balance/scrub/defrag operations of my Arch Linux made the btrfs raid1 incompatible to older kernels. Is that plausible? Just recently rebuilt my system and after rebuild I noticed "doc" directory directly under /usr directory. Further investigation reveals it belongs to the OpenVDB package. Should not this directory be /usr/share/doc/OpenVDB? Regards John

[arch-general] Question about switching to 12 hour time

Hi all, As an orca user, I am confused about something. My arch machine is set to use local time which means that if I am using orca and quarry the time orca gives me the time correctly in 12 hour time but in looking at emails in thunderbird, the time and date are spoken in 24 hour time for example, Its about 6:33 p.m here in the eastern u.s which orca would speak correctly but if I were to use orca I would here the message info with the date format spoken as 2020/13/02 followed by 18:33. Is there something in a configuration file somewhere or something in orca that I need to change? Just wondering as this is confusing me. BTW, my locale is set to en_US.UTF-8. Thanks. Will continue to do some digging but thought I would ask here just incase I am missing something obvious. Matthew

Waybar [1] just had an update where it pulled in a project called "date" [2]. I'm hesitant to package this under the name "date" since GNU coreutils shares a binary with that name. But this isn't a totally obscure library. Should I persuade upstream to change the name? Should I package it under another name? Hi, recently AVM provided a beta-Firmware for Fritzboxes which support WPA3. Unfortunately, our wpa_supplicant seems not be capable of WPA3: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/57413 When setting explicitly WPA3 in NetworkManager, my laptop is unable to connect to my WPA2/WPA3-wifi. I assume it is caused by the missing SAE support, or do I miss something? The assumption is caused by https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/issues/9 Best Regards Bjoern
