Hi. So, this seems to be the relevant section: error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files) util-linux: /usr/share/bash-completion/completions/mount exists in filesystem util-linux: /usr/share/bash-completion/completions/umount exists in filesystem Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded. Any idea what the problem might be?

[arch-general] GTK2 GUIs became a PITA after upgrade

Hi, after the last upgrade GTK2 apps running in an openbox session need more space, they became darker and in some windows even the fonts became less good readable. The reason that I dropped desktop environments was to get rid of chaotic designs and to keep a clear design and now even GTK2 apps in an openbox session became a parody. I'll downgrade one package after the other, but perhaps somebody could give me a hint what package/s might have caused the new unfavourable look. [arch-general] unbound will not start with dnscrypt

[arch-general] Xorg video driver for de sis 771/671

Hi, lspci | grep -i vga 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 771/671 PCIE VGA Display Adapter (rev 10) but I couldn't an xorg driver that's support my video card. I try this https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/SiS but with no luck. Anyone else using this video card? Many thanks in advance.

[arch-general] things specific to Arch?

Hello everyone, New member here and new Arch user having come over from arch-based Manjaro. I admit i installed with Architect and am thankful for it as i don't know that i would have been able to do so without it. So far my experience has been a good one, but i know i have much to learn. One thing that puzzles me is with every other linux i've used i formatted a usb flash drive with the command sudo mkdosfs -n xxxx -I /dev/sdx where x's are specific to file names and disk drives. This does not work in my Arch (the development version and lxqt. Is there a different way specific to Arch, or something i need to download to get this function? Also, usually when i first install a linux there are updates, sometimes tons of them. When i use pacman -Syu it says there is nothing to update. Is this common/ correct? I appreciate Arch for its up to date repository, among many other things. There are just a few things i need to know in order to use it better. Good to be a part of the real deal. [arch-general] Thinkpad 770 - Init exists but couldn't execute it (error -26)

I apologize for crossposting from the forum, but I am not getting any replies there so far. I recently became an owner of a Thinkpad 770, which rather ancient by modern standards and decided to give it a spark of fresh life by installing Arch on it. The CD boots okay, but when I try to actually boot x86 Arch, it Kernel Panics with the subject title. It tries /bin/init, /sbin/init and /bin/sh, failing with the same message for all of them. Some searching shows that ERRNO 26 is for a busy file, but I've no clue what may be accessing all the init files at the time of the boot. I tried passing init=/usr/lib/systemd/systemd, but it fails with error -2. Is systemd not on the CD? I have read about successful installations of Arch on this machine previously, but they mentioned no problems of the sort, presumably that was pre-systemd Arch. Someone mentioned last month about using pacman hooks for btrfs snapper snapshots like YaST does with openSUSE (cf. https://lists.archlinux.org/pipermai l/arch-general/2016-February/040589.html). Here's a little package I put together to do this: https://aur.archlinux.org/pac kages/snap-pac/ Just install the package and use pacman as normal.
